My father used to run fishing charters back in the UK but in 1983 got fed up with the bad weather so decided to move his family to Tenerife to try his luck in warmer waters. When we arrived here he was the first boat to offer fishing charters in Tenerife and being a young 7 year old fishing enthusiast I spent every day that I could out on the boat, at one time the whole family had to live on board as things never went to plan and I used to have to see my home go fishing every week day whilst I went to school. Finally in 1990 we figured out where the marlin were hiding in Tenerife and had the best year ever. A few years later when I left school I got sent back to the UK to do a 5 year apprenticeship on the River Thames, in 1998 I earned my Freedom of the Company of Watermen & Lightermen of the River Thames and came back to Tenerife full time, by now my father had passed the company on but it wasnt long before I got my own boat.

Nice boat and crew. Tenerife s no Cabo or Guatemala! Fishing is not what it is there. 500 euros for a four hour trip is a lot. Understand that the Atlantic is not where I normallly fish. I will stay over there in the southern pacific! Fish availability is not that great.  The local bottom fishing is fished out with fish traps. A lot of four hour boat rides for not much action. A lot of bait. But very few fish??? Odd. Have had fish less days in Cabo, but darn few! Again crew and boat was goood. I fly fished and did land one skipjack tuna. We trolled gear and it was really dead.
Beautiful sland and great food, restaurants etc but for fish I am in Central America.

I cannot fault the effort that the crew of Happy Hooker put in for their clients to catch fish, unfortunately the fishing in Tenerife at the time of my five trips was poor.
If you are a holiday maker in Tenerife book a trip you will enjoy it .If you are a serious angler find another destination.
