Jerry Frye NorCal Guide
Jerry Frye NorCal Guide welcomes you to Redding, California area.
The tailwater fishery below Shasta dam is renouned for Big hard fighting Rainbow trout! I've been in boat and netted a huge 10 pound Trout on a fly rod! You and Captain Jerry Frye will explore the nearby Sacramento River's rich fishery and enjoy its wonderful nature. The captain prides himself on putting together trips to meet your schedule, time frame, and budget. Pay him a visit and make some forever memories on the river!
You'll flyfish from a fully outfitted 17' Fish Craft aluminum fishing boat. It uses a small 15 HP Mercury outboard designed to power you back upstream to re-fish productive water and speed you through the slow 'frog water'. The boat can sit up to 3 guests.
For easy conventional spinning gear or trolling lakes I have a 20' Jetcraft with a 200 hpYamaha jet for running River and lakes. I'll fish up to 5 guests.
As the weather gets warmer, the conditions for fishing are improving. The flows remain clear, holding at just about 10k cfs. On your trip, you will be chasing Rainbow Trout. Rainbow is holding all throughout the system with the biggest fish in the upper reaches of the river. It's definitely responding to mayfly and caddis imitations.
You can drift and fly fish using light tackle and you'll release all the fish you catch. Captain Jerry provides everything except licenses.
The captain's rig of choice for this beautiful tail-water fishery is 9.5' 6 weight rods with floating lines, an indicator, and a 2=3 flies. He's licensed and bonded with over 24 years of experience in guiding the local waters. The recent pics you see above fairly show what you can expect to tangle with on the lower Sacramento River.
Book your next fishing adventure and have a wonderful time on the water!
