As a verified captain, Capt. Larry maintains all required credentials, licenses, permits, & commercial marine insurance (a million dollars!) to be entrusted with your safety and charter needs. Capt. Larry is a resident pro-staff guide out of the nationally-acclaimed World Wide Sportsman/Bass Pro Shop in Islamorada where you'll launch & is a USCG Master Captain, a respected member of the National Association of Charter Boat Operators, the Florida Guides Association, & the Florida Keys Fishing Guides Association.
Capt. Larry has the physicality necessary for outstanding control of his brand-new, latest-technology 2026, Islamorada 21 Edition Chittum Yachts skiff, whether spin or fly fishing (passionate about fly fishing!).
He also has an extremely large repertoire of spots to fish – which is essential when weather or fish behavior becomes unpredictable. He’ll provide you with the very latest in top-quality high-tech equipment: boats, rods, reels, lures, & flies (he ties all his own) – all of it!
Capt. Larry knows everything about fishing, from knots, hooks, & flies to placing the boat just right for your cast. Don’t worry whether it is smarter to spend your day chasing Tarpon, Bonefish, or Permit, or whether other backcountry species present a better opportunity – he’s got it all figured out! Whether it’s fly fishing or spin fishing, he’ll help you out with it no matter your skill level. There’s no minimum age for children, the captain will need their ages & will provide you with all the PFDs required.

I am at best a novice fly fishing person. Larry made me comfortable during my trip. Trying to help me accomplish the task of catching a sea monster on the fly. We completed our trip with a nice 85 pound Tarpon. Larry see you again & thanks for your guidance. You the man.

Full Day Trip – Fly and/or Spin on July 9, 2021 • 2 adultsLast minute weekend trip to the Keys with my family. My 15yo son has dreamt of trying his hand at sight casting on the flats and back country out of Islamorada. We reviewed several captains and selected Capt. Larry based on his profile. Full day trip - almost all flyfishing. We ran out, hit a flat with some sharks and a few boils of bait...saw a snook and some mud boils...then settled in blind casting an edge along the mangroves for snook. Caught a couple...picked up to hunt the flats and had shots at several redfish. Hit a couple of "tarpon holds" along the mangroves.....sight casted the flats...more redfish and a great opportunity at a big tarpon! The caster (me, this time) lost all composure and did everything wrong....but was able to put a cast in front of the fish (mainly due to great poling work by Capt) and either hit him with the fly or he made an aggressive turn at the fly...it was exhilarating! Capt. Larry was a man of few words, tried to find opportunities to sight cast and also to catch fish where he knew they would be, kept us safe in a comfortable skiff, and gave us the opportunity and trip we were looking for - to see fish and try to catch them on a fly rod! It was a successful day! Communications with his wife, punctuality, etc were all excellent! If I could go again right now...i would!

3/4 Day Trip – Fly and/or Spin on July 19, 2021 • 2 adultsHad a great trip with Captain Larry last week. We both nailed a backcountry slam with several nice snook, redfish and a couple tarpon. Rounded our catch with a few speckled trout for the dinner table. Captain Larry was certainly on top of his game and challenged us throughout the trip which improved our results. He handles that push pole masterfully. Sharon (MrsCaptLarry) did a good job coordinating the preliminary trip details. All in all a real good experience. Would highly recommend Capt Larry if you're serious about your backcountry fishing.

Larry did a great job of stayong positive and worked hard. He had plenty of spots to fish. I was picky—looking for permit on a fly rod—so focusing on that meant passing other opportunities. Larry knows his stuff and his boat in incredible! Best O have ever been on and I have foshed all over the Caribbean. The only thing that would have made this the “best trip ever” was landing a permit. Next time!
Yes, Jason had a singular tough target - one of the most difficult sportfish to catch let alone on fly! but that is the fun of it, an impressive challenge. He gets a lot of credit for sticking with his pursuit of a permit on fly.
Capt Larry was very knowledgeable, and the equipment was great. He was extremely hard working, trying his best to get us hooked up.
Enjoyed guiding father and young tween/teen son Saxxon who brought great energy and as fishing is not a guaranteed results sport it was a challenge this morning for their half day charter. More time on the water may have helped.

Had an awesome time guiding Jade and her father Lloyd on their first guided charter and they did a great job, with Jade bringing in Snook, jumping a tarpon, and catching black drum and trout plus big jacks. Enjoyed guiding sister Brittny shown here with a juvenile tarpon.
Capt Larry quickly adapted to my son and my level of skill/desired fish and led us on a great fishing experience. You have a great day when you catch different types of fish and lose count of the catch. The bonefish was the ellusive catch of the day. Highly recommend!
