Captain Shawry will take you to some of the most pristine fishing locations in North Queensland. Fishing Australian coastal and outer reefs is an experience like no other and never disappoints. You really don’t have to travel far to be on the fish, just need to get in front of the inlet and you are good to go.
Hook Up Fishing Charters boasts a brand new 2023 7.2 m centre console, which can comfortably fit 5 anglers without crossing rods. With 2 150 HP Suzuki engines and a cruising speed of 30 knots, you’ll be on the fish before you know it. Along with fishfinder and Capt. Shawry’s 25 years of experience fishing in this area, you’ll have your lines in the water and reeling in your dream catch in no time.
You can expect a huge variety of fish on these trips. Everything from Spanish Mackerel, Giant Trevally, and Snapper, to Coral Trout, Nannygai, Red Emperor, and plenty more.
Kids are welcome on board, great for families. Beginners and experienced anglers will love these trips and the fishing opportunities they offer.
Capt. Shawry knows which fish will bite when, so whichever trip you choose, at whatever time of the day, he will get you on the fish and give you a day to remember.

Half Day Trip – Coastal Reef (AM)
Half day coastal
Great morning out with Shawry. Boat set up is awesome. Took myself and my two teenage kids (13&15) to multiple locations off the coast. At each spot we were pretty much on the fish straight away, if we weren't, we moved on to the next spot. 20+ fish caught, many different species. Shawry was great, very knowledgeable. Provided all the gear and did everything for us, great with the kids. Even spotted some dolphins on the way out. Highly recommended. Thanks Shawry and Julie. We will be back!

Incredible fishing experience!
The fishing trip was a once in a lifetime experience for us and it couldn’t have been better! We caught giant trevally, tuna and various other beautiful fish! Captain was very knowledgeable & helpful & really put us on the fish! Really made our whole trip well worth the money!!!

Great Family Trip from Port Douglas!
Captain Shawry was fabulous with the whole family and all of us caught (and kept) a nice Grey Mackerel! Thanks so much for all the local recommendations for the Daintree and other family things to do around Port Douglas, as the whole vacation was improved with the suggestions from the captain and his wife. Absolutely great day with Hook up fishing charter, Captain Glenn was very experienced and had amazing boat, bait, and tackle Unfortunately the weather was not the best but captain Glenn made the experience enjoyable. We where able to come home with some nice keepers, I would definitely book again with Hook up fishing charter and will recommend this business to others that are thinking of a fishing charter experience. Exciting and interesting Fishing Trip
My 10 year old and I really really enjoyed the trip - really knowledgeable and informative about the area (ocean and land) and exciting fishing - we learnt a lot about ocean fishing. And had lots of fun! Even a delicious recipe to bake our fish afterwards. Thanks Shawy! We will be back!
