Snook Sportfishing and Captain Jorge Fernandez believe you deserve nothing but the very best. They offer all sorts of trips for any breed of anglers, from a couple of hours pulling up something tasty to a full offshore extravaganza.
Capt. Jorge operates a 28’ fishing machine built by Game Fisher in 2008. This fast boat comes powered by twin 115 HP Yamaha engines and has plenty of space for up to 4 guests, the captain, and his deckhand.
The vessel is well-equipped for a productive day on the water. It features a small toilet, 2 coolers, top-notch electronics, and a livewell loaded with bait. On your day out, it will be equipped with quality rods, reels, tackle, lures, and bait suitable for your type of fishing.
Snook Sportfishing departs from the Herradura Bay and heads out to the most productive spots and honey holes in the area. You will be able to explore the waters along the coast or 25 miles offshore and even head up to 40 miles out if necessary.
Your techniques for the day will vary from light and heavy tackle fishing to trolling, jigging, spinning, bottom fishing, and popping. With Sailfish, Marlin, Snapper, Tuna, Grouper, and Mahi Mahi all among the popular catches, it’s hard to resist a trip or two!
The crew will cover your fishing licenses and pack some snacks or light lunch. Shorter trips include pineapples and watermelons, while the longer ones will have sandwiches on board. Plus, all keeper fish will be cleaned at the end of the day to get your dinners sorted out!

Costa Rica Doesn't owe me anything
Planned a trip to Costa Rica to catch yellow fin tuna and Snook fishing chart didn't disappoint. Great team big shoutout to the captain Jorge and his deck hand Enrique those guys were awesome and very well experienced. So please don't be discouraged if the morning is slow be patient captain Jorge will find them. Our morning was slow but man! Our thrill started around 12:30 1pm so many Tuna jumping out the water didn't have the strength to catch them all haha. Definitely recommend. Thanks again Snook fishing charter and Jorge + Enrique I'm leaving Costa Rica very happy. See yall in October Pura Vida!

Great day on the water with captain Jorge
Went fishing with Captain Jorge out of Herradura on April 23. We went off shore targeting sail fish and he did not disappoint we landed two beautiful fish both around 6’6” and around 120lbs. We may have been the smallest boat out there being surrounded by several large sport fishing boats but we were certainly producing. Jorge and his first mate had quality equipment and knew the proper techniques. They kept their eye on the ball and made it a memorable outing. We then tried inshore for roosters but did not hook up but hey that’s fishing. As an experienced fishing guide myself I would recommend fishing with captain Jorge.

Half Day Trip (AM)
Gracias Capitan Jorge Fernandez!
I'll be honest, our day got off to a pretty slow start. Captain shared that the past couple of days were fairly slow. After about 2 hours of not catching anything, the captain got a message over the radio from a friend about a huge school of tuna about 9 miles further out. My 8 year old son was starting to get seasick so captain asked me what we wanted to do. My son said he was getting sleepy so I let him lay on my lap and asked the captain if we could set out further and try our luck. Thankfully my son fell asleep and 20 minutes later I woke him up so he could see the thousands of dolphins, pelicans diving for sardines, and even 50 pound yellowins jumping out of the water feasting on the sardines. Hooked 3 huge tunas, and were able to land a 70 pounder! We could have caught many more and the captain was willing to stay out longer, as our satisfaction was his top priority. Didn't want to get back too late (we did a half-day trip) and had more than enough fish to take home so we went back. The trip back was rough as we were going against the wind and the wind was super strong, but it was definitely worth it! Gracias capi y Enrique, por una experiencia inolvidable! Thanks captain Jorge and Enrique for an unforgettable experience.

3/4 Day Trip
Roosterfish and yellowfin tuna
My boys and I came to Costa Rica with a mission - knock Roosterfish off our bucket list and catch some yellowfin tuna for vacation sashimi. Mission accomplished. Captain Jorge and mate Enrique put us on the fish right away. We caught three big roosters in the first hour or so. Two were in the 25-pound range and the last one went around 40 pounds. Check! After that, we headed offshore. We came across an epic bait ball, with hundreds of spinner dolphins pointing the way to the tuna. It was like a National Geographic documentary watching the dolphins, birds, and tuna tearing up the bait! We took home three gorgeous yellowfins, enough for sushi and grilled tuna dinners the rest of our trip. We are experienced fishermen from Miami and this trip exceeded our expectations. We can’t say enough great things about Snook Sportfishing. Look them up if you are ever in the Jaco area. Pura vida!

Amazing Day of Catching!!!
I wanted to Catch some Rooster Fish and Snapper and we ended up having an epic day with SnooK SF. We emptied the bait well, caught 12 -15 Rooster and then slammed the Jack Crevalle! Must have caught 20+ Jacks. My daughter couldn’t reel in anymore…man they battle..just as hard as Roosters. Then we caught a handful of Yellowtail snapper for dinner. WOW. Capt. was awesome. Fun and easy going and he had some good numbers…we were on each species immediately. Our mate was terrific. Replaced gear quickly, took care of new setups, fillet our fish and even cut our pineapple. I’ve been fishing for over 50 years and my dad was a charter Capt. on Martha’s Vineyard for 15 years…we all dream of days like the one I had with my daughter. Thanks Snook team for an epic, memorable day! I highly recommend you guys. Cheers and “Puda Vida”.
