First Light Sportfishing offers a range of trips out of out of East Dennis, MA. Fish Cape Cod Bay and beyond for anything from Bluefish and Stripers to Bluefin and Sharks. Captain Jeff Perry offers fun, kid-friendly days out as well as some of the toughest sportfishing you can find. He guarantees a great experience for everyone, from complete beginners to seasoned experts.
The 'First Light' is a 37' custom-built Duffy downeaster powered by a safe, dependable 500 HP Yanmar diesel. She has state-of-the-art electronics and a full array of safety gear to make your trip productive and worry-free. The First Light is very well kept with a clean private head (toilet) and a comfortable couch if you want to get out of the elements. If your party is greater than 6 and you would like an additional boat we have you covered. The Rising Sun is a part of our fleet.
Centrally located in Cape Cod Bay, you'll be close to the best fishing grounds around. This means more time fishing and less time riding. Inshore trips will have your lines in the water just 20 minutes after leaving the dock. Even deep sea charters don't usually go more than 25 miles out.
When fishing inshore, your primary target species will be Striped Bass and Bluefish. Head out on a full-day trip and you will either be chasing Bluefin Tuna or wrestling with monster Sharks. Makos, Threshers, Blues, and Porbeagles all hit incredible sizes in these legendary waters.
Capt. Jeff has been running charters on Cape Cod for over 35 years. He's fished from Maine to Mexico, giving him the skills to adapt to any situation onboard. On top of this, he's an EMT firefighter, so you can be sure that safety is a priority onboard.

Had a great trip with Captain Jason Perry, of Rising Sun Sportfishing, filling in for his father, Jeff, on the First Light. My crew was myself, my son, and my 8 year old grandson. Jason had us on the striped bass early in the trip, and it was only and hour or so before we had our three fish limit plus several released fish. Then we transitioned to flounder fishing. Once lines were in, it was non-stop action. We caught our limit of flounder in a couple hours, sometimes two at a time. The mate, Mason, was great to work with. He was very patient and helpful with my grandson, and educated my son and I on the techniques that produce fish. We actually asked Jason to bring us in an hour or so early since my grandson was tired and we had a lot of fish to clean. The captain and mate took care of the fish cleaning, and we went back to our rental with a full cooler. I highly recommend this charter!
We had a wonderful time with Jason and Mason- both kind, thoughtful and great at their craft- we caught 8 fish, kept 4 which left us feeling very successful. Our three teens had a blast and asked if we can do it again next year. Thank you Jason and Mason for your expertise and enthusiasm!
Captain Jeff and First Mate Jason couldn't have been better. It was the end of the season, so catching fish wasn't a given, and they managed to find where they were and guide to a bounty. They're super helpful and relaxed and I will book them again in a heartbeat.
