Your expedition will begin on a 31' Downeast boat prepped and ready to accommodate up to 6 persons and take them to the best available locations for the trip. She's outfitted with a 370 HP Cummins Diesel engine that makes her reliable and safe in different weather conditions. On the boat, you'll find rods, reels, and tackle you need on the trip, so you don't have to lug around your own gear. If you'd like to fly fish, you can do so, up to 2 flyrodders can fish at the same time, must bring your own gear.
The boat also has a private toilet, for your comfort, and is decked out with excellent navigational and fish finding equipment, which allows you to be on the fish at times within 30 minutes. If you hook colossal Striper, you'll have a fighting chair to help you reel it in. You can retain all legal size fish within legal limits. After you come back to land, Capt. John and his first mate will gladly clean and fillet your catch.
You have plenty of trips to choose from, depending on how much time you want to spend on the water and chase after Striped Bass, the superstar of the local waters. This fish is known for giving a proper fight and testing both your line and skills, so good fun while battling them is guaranteed.

Our trip on the Grey Dolphin with Captain John and Chase was absolutely incredible. This was hands‑down the best fishing experience we’ve ever had. In just three hours, we caught 15 beautiful stripers, and the excitement never stopped.Captain John and Chase were not only skilled but also unbelievably knowledgeable, patient, and fun to be around. They knew exactly where to go, kept us engaged the entire time, and made the whole experience unforgettable. Captain John and 1st mate Chase were outstanding. Captain never satisfied if fishing was slow. Moved us a couple of times. 5 of us fished and caught 8 Stripers in less than 3 hours . No babies. 34”38” and 25-30 pounds. I took 2 of my sons, and 2 of my grandkids. My granddaughter bagged 2 and both were the biggest. Our mate Chase couldn’t do enough and always kept our lines in the water. The boat was comfortable for the 5 of us. Don’t hesitate to book captain John
We went out with my two young sons (7&10) and we all had a blast! As soon as we got to the fishing spot we put a few lines out and hooked fished almost immediately. Captain John knew exactly where to go and his first mate was a great help in hetting us set uo and handling the fish as we reeled in one afetr the other. Even on a cloudy/drizzly day we had a great time.

Captain John and Mate Chase did a great job making a bunch of amateurs feel like they knew what they were doing by the end of the trip. Friendly boat who provided a lot of great info about fishing in the Bay, would highly recommend. One note if you book a morning charter - leave the bananas at home.
This was our 2nd time using Captain John's charter, and it was again a great experience, and we will certainly book again next year. The sun was shining, the waters were calm, and the fish were biting! We caught 16 stripers with little downtime in between. We kept the five legal ones, which they cleaned and packaged well for us. The crew and captain were fantastic at teaching and directing us, ensuring we were safe while having fun and catching fish humanely. The captain made sure we were in areas with fish, while Chase, the 1st mate, showed us the ropes, was social and kind. I highly recommend booking a trip on Captain John's charter!
