Captain Jim first began chartering trips in 1988 and has never looked back. He now has a team working with him, who will do their utmost to get you on the fish and having the best day possible.
Ice fishing is very different from normal fishing for a variety of reasons. The biggest difference is that you can drive right up to where you wish to fish. When transport is needed, you'll ride on an Argo 750 HDi. Even if the ice fails, the amphibious qualities of the Argo will keep you try and safe. It has a heated aluminum cabin, studded tracks, and winch. This powerful vehicle will get you safely to the frozen lakes.
Depending on what's biting best, Capt. Jim can take you to various ice fishing locations, including Higgins Lake, Bear Lake, Starvation Lake, Lake Skegemog, and Thumb Lake. With his decades of experience, you'll have a productive day no matter which lake you go to.
Up to 14 guests can come ice fishing at once, making it perfect for large groups. Children are welcome to come too, as long as they can hold a rod. No experience is needed, as the crew will teach you step by step the tricks of the trade.
On the menu, depending on where you are, are Rainbow Trout, Perch, Burbot, Lake Trout, Splake, Brown Trout, Whitefish, and Cisco. All of these can be filleted and bagged by the captain after the trip for an additional $2 per fish.
Included in the price are top quality rods and reels from St Croix and G Loomis. All tackle and bait will be included. For your comfort, quality portable heated shanties are provided too. You're welcome to bring along food and drink. Please purchase a fishing license before the trip.
There is no better time to book, and start counting down the days till your winter adventure begins!

Ice fishing with Jim was a great experience. We fished Bear Lake for perch and brown trout, and caught somewhere around 15 fish, with some large enough to bring home. The guides were friendly, attentive and very helpful. I am not a avid fishermen, so they taught me how to use the equipment, and some tricks to catch fish. I can probably set up a tip-up on my own now. I would definitely use them again in the future.
My friend and I had booked this ice fishing trip with Jim and Landon. They went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and success. They taught us the necessary skills swiftly and offered assistance in reeling in as many fish as possible. By the end of the day, we had successfully caught twelve ciscos!
This crew is awesome! Everything was well coordinated and all setup ahead of time so we went right from pickup to an already heated shanty with bait, rods, sonar all ready to go. We caught a ton of fish! My 11 year old cant stop takking about how much fun he had
Thank you for the great review!!
