Hardcore Fishing Charters (HFC) is one of the only charter operators in the area that offer and promote catch and release of most species of fish. Unless fish is on your menu for dinner, they prefer to let them live to be caught and released another day.

All the fishing guides at Hardcore are third and fourth generation fishermen who know the Belizean waters and the full stretch of the barrier reef like the backs of their hands. Don't worry – they will find the fish!

You'll embark on this angling excursion on board their 31' Cape Horn center console. Her design allows for 6 anglers to fish at the same time, all around the boat. She's powered by twin 250 HP Yamaha engines that'll get you on top of the fish in no time.

They offer deep sea fishing for Blue Marlin, Sailfish, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, and Tuna. They also do reef fishing for Wahoo, King Mackerel, Barracuda, Groupers and different species of Jacks.

The charter also runs a smaller boat, where they offer flats fishing for Bonefish, Tarpon, and Permit, as well as lagoon fishing for Tarpon, Snook, Jacks, and Snappers.

Full Day Trip – Inner Reef on November 10, 2016 • 5 adults

Fished 3 full days with Hardcore and was very satisfied. Caught lot's of fish all days and even had some tarpon excitement. Also got lobster and a big crab which we ate at our resort. 31' boat one day and 23' the other two days. Great captains. Had a blast. We caught grouper, barracuda, mackeral, tuna, snappers. Ate fish two nights in resort. Would reccormend to anyone. .

Pelagic trip with Family

Had a great time with this outfit. We caught lots of fish and they took us some really nice reefs to snorkel with me and my family. They cooked our fish on the island for us with some good potato's. The boat was a really comfortable boat and handled the waves good. Its a 32 foot Cape horn. The crew was friendly and hospitable and catered to our needs. Thanks so much for the great experience. I would defiantly book another trip with these guys.

Beware of the full moon

Full Day Trip – Outer Reef on March 9, 2015

My friend and I are avid hardcore fisherman who understand some days fish don't bite, but never thought that would happen in Belize. I fear that 2 of the 3 full days we chartered may have been affected by the full moon which I should have thought of as well as the captain. Our third day had great action for a few hours with 3 big Blue Marlin hits within an hour but all broke off within minutes. Several nice size Dorados were caught later that morning. Overall the crew were very friendly and worked hard to produce, first day we fished all day in the lagoon with only one small snook to show for it, we were disappointed that no live bait was brought which I feel would have made a difference. These guys are smart but new at chartering I'd give them a try, hopefully they will work on being a little more prepared in some areas.

Captain Erwin Westby grew up in a small fishing village (Placencia). He began fishing commercially at the early age of 15, to pay his way through school in Belize which led him to pursue being an international captain. He studied in Texas at the US Coast Guard school (Hudson Marine) where he obtained his 100-ton license, after which he started working on private yachts and became captain of a 61' Viking. He's traveled the world and did many fishing tournaments, now he's back home to where it all started! He and his team will do their best to make sure you have a memorable day on the water.

11 years agoIt’s no secret that our guys love to fish, so what do they do when they’re not on a fishing charter, well, just in case you were wondering… they go out and fish harder! The crew headed out for a few nights at Glover’s reef where the pristine waters and sandy beaches are for most people only a myth, but here in Belize beauty is never-ending. The guys did it all, from trolling to spin casting, live bait fishing, bottom fishing they even ran out to the gulf stream where they hooked up on some small Yellowfin tunas, huge Dorado’s among others. Mike was the star of this trip though, hauling in a 55 pound black grouper. But just being out there, on the water can make anyone feel like a star, the world around you has your full attention and likewise you feel the same. This is how us here at HFC enjoy our lives, connecting while disconnecting, it’s all here in Belize.
11 years agoWe took out a group from the Mission Bay Lodge, to do a day of snorkeling and a beach barbecue at the Island Park and Marine Reserve of Laughing Bird Caye. The guest had a great time with Captain/Guide Edlin Leslie who took them snorkeling off the islands beaches whilst pointing our many different species of fish and allowing them to acquire knowledge and appreciation for the beauty that is Belize. Meanwhile Captain Martin/Darrel Westby prepared lunch and watched from ashore to make sure everything went as smoothly as possible. Not in our usual zone today, but nonetheless a great job by our HFC crew!!
11 years agoCaptain Edlin along with Junior Angler Darnell once again took Mr. Frank Raffa on a trip for tarpon. They had a wonderful day, as the sun was shining brightly and the winds were perfect to cool off your skin but not disturb your cast. The guys took to live baiting as this is Franks favorite way to fish, the bite was on as the hooked up on several tarpons only to loose them on the jump. But that’s all in fishing; the thrill is not in the kill. It wasn’t until later in the afternoon that Frank hooked up on a tarpon that gave an amazing fight and flew out of the water as if it had wings. Weighing in at 60 pounds and making Frank a very happy man, the guys then revived the fish and set it free, so that another might enjoy its wonder.
12 years agoCaptain Erwin Westby along with him today is his nephew, Darrel Westby who spent many years of his life on the water. Once again with the guys from the sporting club, Brad, Richard, Thomas and Chuck. Today the guys are set of live bait fishing at the outer wall of the barrier reef, which runs from north to south of Belize. As they headed out to one of their known spots only stopping along the way to let Darrel get a good cast at some sardines just under the island known as Long Caye. They filled up the bait well and continued on the short ride out. They ended up catching quite a few Spanish mackerels, barracudas and jacks.
12 years agoOn the vessel today, is the fabled captain Erwin Westby, master of the seas and marlin whisperer. The day started out beautifully, weather conditions were in favor of the fishing crew today. Sydney Lopez at the wheel, with Darrel Westby manning the deck. They all thought for sure that today would be a landing day, the guests today a group from the sporting adventures club, Brad, Richard, Thomas and Chuck all from North Carolina and avid fishermen themselves. The hunt was on and the bite was hot, many fishes were hooked on this fair day but met with stiff competition as the sharks were out for the kill. Out of a decent amount of fish they only managed to bring in the smallest hook-ups. Such as Spanish mackerels, king mackerels, barracuda and triggerfish. But that’s not all, the guests on the boat today each got their blood boiling taking turns at hauling in a monster 9 feet lemon shark. It was a grueling 30 minutes as the monster came up and took off again several times, but it was Chuck who finished off the battle as he brought it long side the vessel and Captain Erwin Westby cut the line to set it free.
