Get on board Calypso and enjoy your day out on the beautiful Mexican waters out of Puerto Vallarta! Captain Ariel Rosen has been fishing in the area since he was a kid, so he knows these waters like the back of his hand. He’ll make sure you have an amazing time.

The Calypso, his 30’ center console boat, is powered by twin 150 Mercury 4 stroke outboard engines. This gives it plenty of power to take you offshore in search of some monsters. Not to worry about sunny days, as there’s lots of shade on board. The boat can accommodate up to 4 anglers.

Capt. Ariel will have Avett, Shimano, and Penn fishing equipment ready for you. You’ll find tuna tubes, outriggers, downriggers, and 2 fighting chairs on board, so you’ll maximize your chances of reeling in those huge specimens! Take your catch back home to the table – the captain will be happy to clean and fillet the fish for you.

There’s a lot of trips you can choose from, depending on how much time you want to spend on the water, as well as which grounds you want to visit. The area is brimming with marine life, so there are opportunities for whale watching and snorkeling.

When it comes to fishing, there’s always something to target. You’ll try to reel in species like Mahi Mahi, Roosterfish, Snapper, Sailfish, Wahoo, Tuna, Marlin, Barracuda, Jack Crevalle, and King Mackerel. The crew supports catch and release when it comes to all Billfish.

The number one specialty tour on Calypso is a day in Yelapa. This trip includes a little bit of everything – fishing, whale watching, and snorkeling. Up to 8 people are welcome, so it’s the perfect family day. The crew loves new adventures and showing you this beautiful bay!

    This is a 5-hour easy and fast trip, perfect for families and kids. If you don't want to spend a lot of time on the boat, this is the trip for you. You'll target species like Tuna, Bonito, Jack Crevalle, and Snapper. Up to 5 people are welcome on this trip. All the fishing gear will be provided for you on board, just bring some sun protection, and you're all set for a great time!

    This is a 4-hour trip for anglers who can't spare a lot of time. You'll try to reel in Jack Crevalle, Tuna, Bonito, and Snapper. Up to 5 people are welcome on this trip. This is the best fishing trip if you want to do more in your day in Vallarta. All the equipment will be provided, just bring some sunscreen, and get ready for a productive trip!

    Inshore fishing – get in and out. Would you like to go out on a boat, see some of the natural beauty the bay has to offer you? This is the perfect trip, not too long, but long enough to get a feel of what this beautiful bay has to offer. The trip consists of 5 hours. You'll do a little snorkeling, whale watching, and fishing, or you can just fish for 5 hours. Sometimes the captain gets so emotional, loses track of time, and gives you an extra hour. The departure time is flexible.

    On this trip, you'll start by fishing all the way (trolling) to the snorkeling spot Los Arcos so you can catch your own food. When you get to Los Arcos you'll do some snorkeling, and then head to the beautiful beach of Las Animas. If you spot some whales you'll stop and say hi to them. Then you'll head to Las Animas for some great seafood: they have all kinds of meals but you really want to try the fish, lobster or oysters, breaded or on the shell. Get ready for an amazing adventure!

    This is a Marietas National park Island trip. It's a 5-6 people express 5-hour trip to the hidden beach of Marietas. There is an additional cost of 90 pesos per person for park bracelets so you can enter the island. This is one of the most protected national parks and bird sanctuaries of Mexico's Pacific coast and it's by far the best trip on Calypso.

    Marietas Islands are 20 miles out of Puerto Vallarta so it's an adventure to get out there. On the way, you'll spot mantas, whales, turtles, dolphins. When you get to the islands you can get off and visit the hidden beach, or as the locals know it – the Love Cave. Then you can get back on the boat and go around viewing the island. On the 2nd island, you can get off and do some snorkeling. There's everything to prepare a ceviche on board, so you'll fish for your own food.

    On this trip, you'll go fishing in the bay for 1 or 2 hours, depending on how the bite's going. Then you'll go whale watching in Banderas Bay, where the whales come to mate. After whale watching and fishing, you'll go snorkeling at Los Arcos or Majahuitas, depending on where it's clearer. After that, you'll head to Yelapa for some great lunch. If you have your own fish, you can have them cooked. Depending on the time, you can also hike to the waterfalls of Yelapa, and enjoy some beautiful nature.

September to December you'll go for Marlin, Sailfish, Mahi Mahi, Tuna, Wahoo, Roosterfish, Snapper, etc. December to March you'll go more for Roosterfish, Snapper, Mahi Mahi, Pompano, Amberjack, Bonito, Sierra, Spanish Mackerel, Jack Crevalles – a bit smaller game fish, but lots of fun.

Captain Ariel has been on a boat and on the water all his life but has only been in the charter business for 12 years. His passion comes from seeing a passenger on his boat with a big fat smile when they got that nice fish on board and showing everybody the beauty of Banderas Bay – Captain Ariel's backyard. This makes him the happiest person alive!
