Operating out of Willemstad, Curacao, La Menta Boattrips offers professionally guided fishing trips. If you’d like to have the best experience exploring these deep waters, Captain Arnold Aarden and his crew will do everything to make that happen. Capt. Arnold is a passionate fisherman who’s been in the business for over 14 years.
You’ll be fishing from a 36’ Pro Marine walkaround boat that can accommodate up to 6 anglers. The boat comes with air-conditioning, a restroom, a freshwater shower, a kitchen, and a tuna tower. But it’s not all just about comfort. This fishing machine is powered by twin 440 HP Yanmar Diesel engines and features outriggers, downriggers, a fighting chair, a live bait tank, and ice-boxes.
The captain will show you his favorite spots where you’ll get to target Sailfish, Marlin, Mahi, Barracuda, Wahoo, and an incredible variety of Tuna (Skipjack, Yellowfin, Albacore, and Blackfin). The best part is that there is no need to go more than 100 yards from the shore as the water gets deep pretty quickly. Also, if you’d like to extend your trip for half an hour, the captain will gladly stay a bit longer.
You’ll be supplied with top-tier Penn fishing gear, lures, and licenses. Depending on the season, you’ll get to catch your own live bait on the way – this is usually possible during winter and summer months.
The breakfast is provided on half days, while full day trips include lunch sandwiches. Snorkeling is also an option on full day trips, and the gear is provided, but kids are usually not recommended on longer trips.
The boat normally keeps the catch, but you’ll get a portion for a nice dinner, and the crew will clean and fillet it for you. The captain can even recommend a great restaurant where you can have your catch prepared for a few bucks.

What a lesson!

We had an exceptional experience with La Menta Boattrips! The organization, charisma, and determination of the crew to provide a memorable fishing trip were remarkable. Despite the unusual and challenging weather conditions for June, which limited our techniques to trolling, the team went above and beyond to take us to the best spots, ensuring our safety in rough seas. At the end, they even prepared the fillet of the Wahoo we caught, allowing us to enjoy a delicious sashimi and grilled fish at our hotel. A fantastic experience, both on and off the boat!
The entire crew was extremely courteous and professional. Captain Wendel demonstrated deep knowledge and adaptability, reformulating the fishing plan in response to sudden weather changes, which proved highly effective. Additionally, they generously shared fishing insights and the best on-shore fishing spots in Curaçao - and even gave me a Mini LED Fishing Light!!
Boat and Equipment:
The boat is in excellent condition, with impeccable maintenance. After each catch, the crew promptly cleaned the deck, keeping everything organized. The fishing equipment is varied and of high quality, including a wide range of artificial and natural baits.
Although the weather conditions limited our catches, we managed to hook a 14 kg Wahoo, which made our day and provided a delightful meal!

My husband and I went on this trip for our honeymoon, hoping to catch our first ever pelagic fish. The crew did everything they could to put us on the fish, but unfortunately the fish were not biting that day. I was pretty bummed, but that's why it's called "fishing" not "catching". My husband and I were shocked that Wendell invited us back out on ANOTHER trip during our stay! We returned to La Menta later that week. I caught a black fin tuna, and my husband caught a yellowfin! We are so appreciative of the effort that this crew put in to putting us on the fish. We would definitely fish with him and his crew again. They also make great company :)

Deep Water Fishing 800 Meters from Shore!

I've hired fishing guides in Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, and Puerto Vallarta. This one was different. The ocean floor drops off steeply as you leave the shore in Curaçao, so we were deep water fishing without getting too far away from land. Couldn't believe we were catching tuna & barracuda while trolling just offshore! Captain Wendall is a really good guy. Also unique was the worlds cutest & smallest Chihuahua, who came along with us. Belong to the Captain. That little dog got all excited to eat little pieces of fresh tuna. Never thought I'd see that on a fishing trip!

Fun crew, beautiful fishing area. in the deep water, 4000 ft in 30 minutes. Rigs for tuna, mahi, barracuda, marlin. had a marlin strike, saw the fin. Very exciting. Marina a little difficult to find. our taxi driver not aware of the small marina.
