Jrose Outdoors is welcoming everyone ready to fish in the Muskegon River and surrounding Newaygo County. Captain Jason Rose is a full-time fishing guide who loves teaching his guests a new skill and watching them put it to work. He participated in various Bass and Steelhead Tournaments and some offshore ones on Lake Michigan.
Your trip will take place on an 18’ River Rat jet boat that accommodates up to 3 anglers. She’s powered by a 150 HP Yamaha engine and features all necessary navigational and safety equipment.
There’s a variety of freshwater fish species you could catch, depending on the season and fishing spots. Steelhead is available throughout the year, while you can also reel in Salmon, Perch, Smallmouth Bass, and different types of Trout. You can try out different kinds of fishing techniques, from popping, jigging, spinning, to bottom fishing and trolling. If you’re interested in fly fishing, you’ll be happy to hear that Capt. Jason provides fly fishing equipment as well.
Capt. Jason will prepare live bait before the trip, and clean your catch after it. You’ll need to purchase your fishing license online in advance and also bring some snacks and drinks for the day. Inform the captain of your location and arrange a pick up by the boat (if you’re not too far away).
Jrose Outdoors stays busy on the water catching fish and delivering smiles. Let’s go fishing!

Newaygo, Michigan, United States
I have fished the waters of Michigan for my entire life. The Muskegon River is my home. I have traveled the world in pursuit of the next catch. I continue to teach and enjoy my passion with other anglers on the water. I am blessed to be able to pursue my passion every day. I use primarily light spinning tackle to catch Steelhead, Salmon, Walleye, Bass, and Trout. I love to fly fish, I spend my winters ice fishing, so my fishing addiction is not focused on one technique to get a rod bent. Let’s go fishing!
