Costa Rica fishery is famous for its abundance and variety, and casting your line around Playas del Coco will surely prove it. To make the most of your angling experience on these prolific waters, book a trip with Alex On The Beach Fishing Charters. Let the knowledgeable and friendly crew take you to the red-hot bite and rod-bending action.
Your captain and first mate are both locals who know the ways of the fish and how to get them to bite, and then it’s your time to get them into the boat. You will be fishing out of a 28’ center console, outfitted with a 200 HP Yamaha engine and with all the fishing gear to take you to where the fish hide.
On board, you’ll find Shimano Tiagra and Penn International rods and reels, outriggers, a live bait well, and an icebox to keep your catch fresh as long as you’re on the water. If you’d like to use live bait, you can catch some along the way or the first mate could do it for you. Everything from the icebox can be filleted for your convenience after the trip.
There’s a wide array of species you can find at the end of your lines in these pristine waters, depending on your preferences and the time of the year. Blue Marlin and Sailfish are the stars of the show, because of their size and spectacular fighting abilities, and you’ll have a better chance to land these bad boys on full day trips.
Shorter trips will put you on trail of Roosterfish, Amberjack, Snapper, Grouper if you stay closer inshore, and Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, and Yellowfin Tuna are in the cards if you venture a bit further offshore. These species come in healthy sizes and you can bet you will get a proper workout when fighting them.
Take your kids, your family, or best angling buddies and Alex On The Beach Fishing Charters will go out of their way to organize a fishing bonanza to remember!

My 14 year old son and I tried for Roosterfish using live bait but they just did not want to cooperate. Although my son had fun pulling in a big needlefish but not the Roosterfish we were targeting. After no luck for a few hours switch over to trolling and pick up a yellowfin and small Mahi to give my son something to catch. Sergio brought the freshest and sweetest pineapple on ice in the cooler of drinks and cut it open to serve to us while trolling. My son said he had never had such a tasty pineapple in his life. Nice touch Sergio!! Next time I hope the Roosterfish cooperate but Sergio tried his best and that's why they call it fishing and not catching. I would recommend this boat to anyone.
