Just when you thought that your holiday in Tanzania couldn’t get any better, Beach Bums Fishing Charters shows up! They offer unforgettable fishing trips that are convenient for everyone’s pocket. You’ll depart from Kizimkazi and head out to Menai Bay, towards the south coast of Zanzibar. This area has plenty of uninhabited, picturesque islands and sandbanks, as well as fascinating marine life.
Captain Zandre is your guide on this adventure. He’s been hooked on fishing ever since he was 3 years old. He specializes in topwater fishing with poppers and stick baits, but he also does trolling and jigging. It all depends on what you want to do.
Activities that require special equipment need to be requested in advance. For spearfishing, it’s a must that you have the experience of at least 15 meters deep since you’ll be freediving. The captain prefers his clients to bring their own equipment, but he can arrange it as well. If you’re more into snorkeling, the captain will provide the equipment for an additional charge ($10 per person). When it comes to flyfishing, you’ll need to bring your own equipment.
There’s lots of fast and big fish you can catch in the area and that is the reason anglers from all over the world come here. Your main targets will be Giant Trevally, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Tuna, and many more. The catch is usually released or kept by the crew, the guests can usually keep one fish.

It started slow but the excitement picked up chasing the birds, and thus, fish. Captain Andrew was great! We definitely got our half day worth of fishing time. It was different sea fishing than we’d done before, and we’re happy we chose it.

Half Day Trip (AM) on January 4, 2022 • 1 adultWent on 2 Trips with Captain Andrew, it was Amazing! They have proper gear (Shimano Stella etc.) and really know what they are doing. First half day trip chasing Tuna, ended up catching 28 yellowfin Tuna. Second trip started popping for GT and then Trolling the Reef hooked 2 good Mahi Mahi, a good Tuna and a GT. Then Hooked a huge Bull Dorado. Lost a few as well and then went on the chase for tuna again and even hooked a Mahi Mahi on a popper. If you are looking for a professional Fishing trip then this is the Place to go. Can Recommend 100%

Full Day Trip on February 2, 2023 • 2 adultsthe captain is the only one on the island who really knows how to weigh! we tried different techniques ( trolling , poppy ,) to fish for GT and sailfish but it wasn't the right day! but the captain knowing the waters decided to take me to the tuna paradise and I had fun !! absolutely go with him you don't need to waste time with others!!

Half Day Trip (PM) on October 11, 2023 • 2 adultsWe had a great time!The best part was the crew & seeing the smile on my husband’s face.We went with a small boat..It was ok but I think we would have chosen the bigger boat in future.We caught a few Tuna but it was a slow day for the fish being active.The crew was wanting to go beyond and keep us out there a little extra as we started seeing more action on the way back in to shore.We had already had a fantastic time and decided to just head in.I can’t say enough positive things about the crew..They really are awesome guys!If we were staying in Zanzibar longer I would go again on the bigger boat!I highly recommend this company & crew!Thank you for the fabulous memories.

Great day on the water , conditions were pretty rough to say the least !😂still managed to catch kingfish,barracuda & bonito 👍Steph was amazing worked his hardest in the conditions to find us fish , had 4 sailfish hits aswell as what we caught but think it was a little too rough to set the hook . Zandre’s communication & arranging was top class 👍picked us by taxi & took us back to our resort by taxi , can’t recommend these guys enough 😎👍👍we even took bonito back to our resort which the chef prepared, shared it with friends we meet along the way absolutely amazing. Can’t recommend enough 👍👍
