If you’re looking for a day of fishing with lots of action there is no better place than Sierpe, one of the best places for recreational or sportfishing in Costa Rica. Edgardo has been running Tours Sierpe CR since 2017 and has years of experience in the area. With your local captain on board, you can maneuver the difficult mouth of the river. On the day of your trip, Edgardo will be his first companion on board.
The day will be spent on a 26’ Mako center console. The boat offers great maneuverability, so you can follow your fish around the boat once caught. There is a T-top for some shade, and 2 refrigerators on board: one for the catch, and one for the snacks you should bring along.
You can choose to fish in the wetlands of Sierpe, the mouth of the Sierpe River or in the crystalline salt waters of the Pacific Ocean. Even beginners can fish the ocean, as you’ll head out a maximum of 14 miles from shore.
The species that you can capture vary according to the trip you choose. On the river trips, you can target species such as Mangrove Snapper, Corvina, Snook, Goliath Grouper, Catfish, Tarpon, plus more. Towards the coast, you will find the powerful Roosterfish, Yellowfin Tuna, Spanish Mackerel, Barracuda, Almaco Jack, Grouper, Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, and more!
The price includes high-quality rods and reels from Penn, Daiwa, and Shimano. When live bait is used, this will also be included in the trip price. Sometimes this is defined before the trip, sometimes during, it depends entirely on the season. Drinks are also provided. You can bring along extra snacks, which can go inside the captain’s refrigerator.
You should wear light layers, with a long-sleeved t-shirt, deck shoes, and a hat. Don’t forget your sunscreen!

Full Day Trip – Inshore
Such a great day of fishing in Bahia Drake!
Myself, my husband, daughter 21 and son 18, had a wonderful full day trip out in Bahia Drake. Our captain was Wayner and our sailor was Celvi. They were awesome! We've been fishing out in the Gulf off of Florida and off the Keys and all of us felt this was the best day we had had. We got several yellowfin tuna, some pompano, atun mackerel, and a couple of others. We took home enough fish for our hosts at our hotel to cook dinner for us and have so much left over to give to other staff and to keep some for themselves. The boat was basic but the rods were great and they had a whole bunch of different lures. They were quick to change locations if the fish weren't biting in one spot. That has been a problem on past trips we've had - too long in an area where nothing was happening. They provided watermelon and pineapple and drinks. We brought other snacks that we wanted. Edgardo, who contacted me for the details, asked if we needed an English-speaking guide and since I speak decent Spanish, I said that we did not. Our two didn't speak much English at all, which was ok. If you need someone who speaks English, make sure to make that clear in case they forget to ask. All in all, it was such a great day and I highly recommend!

Full Day Trip – Isla del Caño
Awesome Sierpe Fishing day with Don Jesus and Chevy!
Had another fantastic day fishing out of Sierpe with Friends. It was David and Donna's first trip to Costa Rica and we decided to add in a Fishing trip to Cano Island with Sierpe Tours... My friend David caught a 30lb Rooster Fish - a bucket list fish for him!! Donna pulled dinner for us - nice sized red snapper. Both CPT Jesus and Chevy couldn't have been nicer or more prepared for our trip. We'll be back again for sure! Chad

Two Wedding Anniversaries Celebration
Had an amazing time fishing with Tours Sierpe and celebrating not one but two wedding anniversaries! We were treated very special and received a special gift and champagne to celebrate after a full day trip. During our trip we were able to see two sea turtles and a Manta Ray. To top it off we caught about 25 fish, lost count. It was truly an amazing day that we will always remember.
