Ear Mountain Charters
Ear Mountain Charters invites you to experience the stunning waters of Hoonah. Captain Eric will be your guide, allowing you to benefit from years of angling experience.
You're likely to fish for Halibut, Salmon, and more if you come at the right time of year. On these trips, it's common to troll and bottom fish.
Trips with Ear Mountain Charters are child-friendly, so the whole family can come and unplug for the day! If you don't have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there's one on board. And, you can't go wrong with snacks to stay fueled throughout your trip!
You'll be casting lines from a 32' North River aluminum fishing boat with a capacity for 6 passengers. It comes with downriggers, and all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. What's more, this vessel is wheelchair accessible. You'll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, along with lures. Live bait is included, but it's good to ask about this so you know if you'll be catching it yourself.
Before coming aboard, you'll need to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.
You can't go wrong when you bring a hat, sunglasses, bottled water, and sunscreen (non-spray). Alcohol is not allowed.

Our group had an exceptional day on the water with Captain Eric and Alice! They were both so gracious and accommodating to our needs and our group! The fishing was great and we caught our Halibut limits within a few hours! We would definitely plan another trip with Ear Mountain Charters!
Local husband and wife team. captain Eric put us right on the fish. 4 anglers we caught about 14 or 15 halibut. one nice 45” fish. plus a rock fish and a nice cod that made great bait. we had a great experience. I would highly recommend Captain Eric and his wife.
