Your guide for the day, JP Mckay, is a tournament-winning angler with over 30 years of experience as a guide, fishing throughout southern Florida. His clients describe him as a great host who enjoys having people aboard.
JP is extremely knowledgeable about spawning and feeding patterns, as well as which seasons produce the best types of fish. After fishing for so long, understanding these waters has become second nature to him. There’s nothing that makes JP happier than transferring that passion to new anglers and having them hook their first big Bass.
You’ll depart from Everglades Holiday Park, aboard a 21’ Ranger Bass boat. Her shallow draft makes her perfect for planing skinny waters, giving you an ideal Bass fishing experience. She’s equipped with a fishfinder, wireless trolling motor, top-quality Shimano gear, a live well, lures, and baitcasters. Each trip accommodates 2 guests and both can fish at the same time without tangling lines.
Your main targets for the day are Peacock Bass and Largemouth Bass. Both are extremely popular due to their good game qualities, and are fun to catch for anglers of all ages and levels of experience. Make sure you bring a camera along because Peacock Bass is perhaps one of the most beautiful and interesting-looking freshwater fish out there!
You’ll also be able to target various Panfish, such as Bluegill Crappie. These fish are lots of fun for kids to catch due to their size. It’s the perfect opportunity for young ones to build their confidence!
If you enjoy live baiting, you can buy fresh shiners before the trip. Native shiners cost $10 a dozen, and wild golden shiners go for about $20 a dozen. Just be sure to purchase a fishing license online, pack some snacks, drinks, sunscreen, and light clothing, and get ready to fish the Everglades with Bass Whisper Guide!

The Bass Whisper Experience! Positive Attitude Positive Latitude!
Had one of the best fishing experiences ever today bringing my best friend to go fishing for the first time with Captain JP Mcay. Imagine burst of adrenaline, adventuring, laughing, learning, and feeling stress free on a day with great weather and hungry fish. My first time fishing on a boat felt great! Captain JP is a comedian, great guide, teacher, and human being that will set you up for success and will give you hands on tips and tricks to catch a powerful fish. Once we got the hang of casting and setting the hook the rest was history! The boat was clean and fast, plus all of his equipment worked efficiently. 10/10 I recommend anyone to seek out his services!

Never fishing in the Everglades before it was awesome to have JP by our side. Very helpful and kept us going the whole time. From different types of lures, bait, etc, JP sure has the the right info to catch all kinds of fish, Gar, Peacock Bass, Large Mouth Bass, Cichlids, Jaguar Quattipate or Oscar's. It was awesome! We even saw a gator.
Never fishing in the Everglades before it was awesome to have JP by our side. Very helpful and kept us going the whole time....

He’s the whisperer for a reason..
We went out and used one bait all day long, in bass fishing this is unusual. I thought so too, until I hooked a 5 pounder, then a 6 pounder, then an 8 pounder missed it… if you want BIG BASS this is your charter! Not to mention all the 2-3 pounders in between. Book this trip if you want a beautiful boat, top notch gear, and tons of fun for your charter trip.

Great day with the Basswhisperer
Captain JP knows where the fish is at. We had great 4h of fishing with him. He was patient with the beginner and showed us some tricks. He is very kind and easy to talk to. Overall we must have caught nearly 25 fish. Not just a fishing trip but an adventure! Would definitely recommed this captain.

JP was fantastic to work with, he took me out last minute for a fair price and put me onto trophy peacocks and large mouth. Top water bite was incredible and so was the finesse fishing. I learned a lot, caught tons of fish and had a great time listening to JPs story’s. Can’t wait to get back out!
