Want to book a trip that offers variety for anglers of every skill level? Then look no further, and book a trip with Earning Stripes Sportfishing today. Captain Greg grew up surrounded by fishing and knew that he had to follow his passion and make fishing his full-time job. He will do everything he can to make sure you have a productive day out on the water, whether this is your first time fishing or your hundredth.

The day will be spent on a 45' Hatteras sportfishing boat. There is plenty of space to fish, so your group of 6 can be comfortable on the ride out and avoid crossing lines. The boat is decked out with full safety and navigational equipment so you can fish with peace of mind.

The fish will vary depending on where you choose to cast your line. Close to shore and in the bays, you can expect to reel in the likes of Red Drum (Redfish), Cobia, Black Drum, Spanish Mackerel, Rockfish, Black Seabass, and plenty more. The captain will let you know which fish can be kept and will fillet these for you after the trip.

Children over 4 are welcome on board. They'll love the calmer waters of the bay and the great action found there. Live vests are on board for them.

If you're traveling by yourself but want to get out on the water, just join a shared trip. Families and groups of friends can book a private trip to have the boat to themselves.

Included in the price of the trip are top-quality rods and reels. These won't let you down when reeling in your dream catch! Live bait is used for some species and will be included, too. This is usually prepared before the trip.

Don't forget to bring your food and drink for the day. This can go into the captain's cooler. Grab your non-spray sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat, and you're ready to go. Don't forget the mate works for tips (20% customary).

All that's left to do is book a trip with Earning Stripes Sportfishing. Capt. Greg can't wait to welcome you on board!

Great Captain, Great Crew, Great Fishing!
Full Day Trip on August 15, 20266 adults

We had a fantastic time with Greg on his charter! We caught six different species of fish, and Greg was beyond accommodating from start to finish. He was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and made sure we had a great experience. The boat was very comfortable and perfect for whatever type of outing you’re looking for. His mate was highly skilled, and they kept the poles active throughout the trip. You could tell they both really cared about making sure everyone had a great time. It was an awesome day on the water, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We will definitely be back and highly recommend Greg and his charter to anyone looking for a great fishing trip!

Bradley’s group was a fun group and very respectfull to us and the boat. They really seemed to enjoy themselves and left the mate a good tip. These guys are welcome back anytime. Good luck to the one that was getting married. Have a safe trip back!

My son's first cobia and Spanish Mackerel
Half Day Bay Trip (AM) on July 14, 20245 adults1 child

Captain Greg and crew took us out for a perfect half day of sight casting for cobia. We saw about 20-25 and casted at probably half of them while trolling for Spanish Mackerel. My son caught his first cobia and a mess of Spanish Mackerel. The boat was roomy and nice and the crew was kind and easy going. The review from my 8 year old, "it was good."

What a fun day. Our Captain had to be switched out to another Captain but boy did we have fun. The Captain was so much fun and helped us with our catches and was friendly. Our first mate was amazing. So knowledgeable and helped us in every way. Both made our fishing trip one to remember. My son and family cannot wait to book with Earning Stripes Sportfishing next year.

July 15 2021 with Captain Allman and Mate Joseph at Cape Charles
Half Day Bay Trip (AM) on July 15, 20212 adults

Captain Allman and Mate Joseph were super. The boat was very comfortable including air conditioning that came in handy in the 90+ degree heat. They sight-fished for Cobia. We trolled for Spanish Mackerel and jig-fished over a wreck. We hit our limit with 2 Cobia that were both over 40 inches and pulled in 9 mackerel in just a half day trip. They were very helpful and committed to a successful charter. Captain Allman's experience in handling his boat made the landing of the Cobia easy. Joseph was incredible and one of the most likable persons you will ever meet. It was a great experience and we would charter with Captain Allman again.

Captain Greg is a local who has been licensed since 2000. He and Captain Chad work together, so you will be fishing with one of the two. Captain Greg grew up on an island so being close to the water always felt natural to him. When he turned 16 he got himself a boat. When fishing feels so right to you, you have to make it your livelihood as well as your hobby and passion. So he began running charters in 2015 and hasn't looked back! One of the best parts of the job is seeing kids catch their first fish, especially when it's a big one! Capt. Greg also enjoys participating in tournaments.
