Fishing Guide Capt Tom Hinterschied

A typical day of fishing for Lake Okeechobee Large mouth Bass would be getting up early and meeting at the lake. We will make arrangements by phone for where to meet. ON a 4 hour trip we can fish with live bait or fish with artificials. The lake has a lot of weeds and we will be fishing heavy cover so my favorites are weed less soft plastics.
There is lots of wildlife to see on the lake so bring your camera. We mostly release our fish but keeping your catch is OK with me.
Boat: The Dolphin 16 foot flats boat can run very fast and shallow getting into position for an early bite. There is plenty of room for 2 anglers. Adding a third angler can get cramped. Kids are no problem but 3 full sized adults would be the max. If you party is bigger I can arrange for another boat to come along.
Lake Okeechobee is a big lake and that gives us many options for finding the big fish. My goal is to get you that 10lb Okeechobee hawg. We may not catch the double digit large mouth on every trip but I will work hard at finding him for you.
If you are over 16 years old or under 65 years you will need to buy a fresh water fishing license.

I am a native of south Florida and an Army veteran. I Grew up fishing south Florida with my father and grand father. I lived near the water so fishing after school was a daily event. Spent the last 10 years traveling the Bahamas in a sport fish catching some awesome fish and seeing some of the most beautiful waters in the world.

Captain Tom made this trip a great experience for me and my son. As novice fishermen, we needed his guidance and expertise to help us catch some fish. We had an afternoon trip and the prospects for catching fish seemed grim for us at the start but Tom found the spot that was rich with fish. My son started catching largemouth including a good sized one after an hour or so into the trip. I soon followed with my first catch. By the end of a cool March day, we had each caught five fish. Tom’s patience, knowledge and great tips made this afternoon trip an unforgettable experience. Thank you Tom.

Clarification on recommendation of this experience.  I did not know that the fish we caught were not edible due to mercury contamination.  Therefore we only had catch and release.  This was fine but, I may have chartered a different trip had I known.  I was hoping to catch supper.

As it was we caught a few smaller fish and had a good day on the water.  Got to see some of the Everglades and a few alligators.  Capt. Tom was friendly and knew the waters well.

You could have eaten them. They are edible. I just thought it was nice to inform you that everglades bass have a mercury warning.
It was fun catching them anyway.
