Fish In Panama Charters will take you on an amazing freshwater adventure. Fishing in Gatun Lake is on the bucket list of every passionate angler. The main star of the show is Peacock Bass, also known as “Sargento” by locals. Nothing beats their aggressiveness and ferocious attack, which kind of makes them freshwater versions of pit bulls.
You’ll start your adventure with Captain Richard in Gamboa, 35 miles from Panama City. He’ll welcome you on his 26’ Caribe Pro boat. She’s been newly restored in 2019 and features all necessary navigational electronics and safety equipment. Powered by a 200 HP Yamaha engine, she’ll get you to the best fishing spots fast.
You’ll start in Chagres River and reach the waters of Gatun Lake. This lake is a very important source of water for the Panama Canal and it holds a variety of fish species. Besides Peacock Bass, you’ll also be able to catch Snook, Tilapia, Jack Crevalle and Oscar. You’ll mostly use trolling, casting, and bottom fishing.
You can keep the catch and the crew will clean and fillet it for you. After the trip, the captain will welcome you in a restaurant “Aquelarre,” where he can prepare the catch free of charge. Fishing equipment, snacks, and drinks are also covered.
If you’re interested in going after big game pelagic fish, check out capt. Richard’s second listing. Whichever trip you choose, you’re bound to have an unforgettable day on the water!
