Based just 5 miles from downtown Seattle, a Wind Knot Salmon Guide Puget Sound fishing charter will make you feel like you’re on another planet. Come and explore the riches of the Puget Sound, where you’ll sail across the bays against stunning backdrops doing battle against one of the Pacific Northwest's most prized fish – Salmon. During July and August there is a great chance to land a Shark!
Step aboard the premium 25’ Grady White Center Console Fisherman 236 and see for yourself! This vessel can cater to up to 6 anglers and features state of the art Simrad radar, chart plotter and fish finder. We are proud to maintain the fleets cleanest, modern boats.
Family owned and operated charter business. WE captain the boat, not a seasonal captain.
Using light gear, you’ll “mooch” the waters with fresh or frozen bait while drifting with the motor off. This style of fishing is suited best for anglers who prefer to have a rod in hand rather than watch rods and share turns. Most charter boats on Puget Sound troll, we typically do not so keep that in mind when choosing the right charter experience for you. We do troll with downriggers for Coho Salmon in September but have the option to drift fish. Get ready for an intense battle as you go after Coho and Chinook Salmon on an adventure that you’ll remember for the rest of your life!
At the end of the day, Capt. David will clean your catch, so you’re good to cook it up right away. Please keep in mind, to maintain the quality of our fishery, Puget Sound is a highly regulated. Often, we must release fish unharmed. Be sure to arrive on time and get ready for a great day on the water.
Customers without a Washington fishing license can buy a one-day license and catch card from Capt. David on the boat. If you only need a one-day license this is the best option as you don't have to track down a store and worry about if you have the correct license.
Get on board with Wind Knot Salmon Guides for a great time on Puget Sound!

Morning Trip – Salmon Private (AM) on July 7, 2025
We did a private morning trip for four people. The captain did a great job of working to get us on fish (We caught and released a decent number of Chinooks but never caught any Cohos.). Very nice boat and excellent equipment. The captain explained the fishing methods well and talked about the resource (the fish and Puget Sound in general) so we all learned quite a bit. Very enjoyable trip with great scenery.

Morning Trip – Salmon Private (AM) on September 6, 2024
The fishing was at least as good as we hoped. In an hour we were fortunate enough to catch all of our limits in coho, with nice quality fish. The gear was top notch and the boat was new and comfortable. The location was beautiful and the weather was a bonus. Most of that was a function of being in the right general area with nature cooperating. The genius of the captain was not following the 300 boats sitting over the fish but staying further west pursuing active fish. Yes we saw others make the occasional catch but we had 3 doubles in an hour and were constantly catching fish. After we completed our limit the fisherman in the boat requested another species to target and he made the changes. He was pleasant and knowledgeable. Thank you. Good luck with your choices and tight lines.

My brother and I both limited out on Salmon. Plenty of bites and caught a few sharks. I’d definitely go again I enjoyed getting to handle my own rod the whole charter, instead of trolling.

When Captain David's family moved from Kansas to Seattle when he was just a kid, the writing should have been on the wall. His father bought a boat before buying a house and spent all his spare time on the water. Having grown up on the Sound, he got his own boat at age 13 and has been passionate about sharing his native waters with others ever since. He's spent a lot of time out of the US and is happy to welcome out-of-towners and foreigners aboard to learn all about the beauty of the area and to witness first-hand some of the best fishing in the Washington.
