When Captain David's family moved from Kansas to Seattle when he was just a kid, the writing should have been on the wall. His father bought a boat before buying a house and spent all his spare time on the water. Having grown up on the Sound, he got his own boat at age 13 and has been passionate about sharing his native waters with others ever since. He's spent a lot of time out of the US and is happy to welcome out-of-towners and foreigners aboard to learn all about the beauty of the area and to witness first-hand some of the best fishing in the Washington.

    Highlight of Our Washington Trip

Evening Trip – Salmon Private (PM)3 adults

We had a perfect afternoon/evening on the water with Captain Dave. The boat was clean, well maintained, and comfortable. Captain Dave met us at the marina peer and was very personable and pleasant. Throughout the trip he was engaging and shared his love and knowledge of the area and of the sport. This was our first time fishing with a mooching style and really liked the interactivity of fishing in that manner verses just watching a line. He worked hard to get us on fish and it was successful. Our family of three caught Coho salmon, Chinook salmon, and shark. In addition to his style and friendliness throughout the trip, I appreciate his knowledge of the water. He had been proactive in reaching out to us to move our timeslot up to capitalize on better tides and to avoid some incoming weather. As we were heading in after a successful few hours, it was evident that he truly made the right call as the waters were turning rough. We had a blast and I would highly recommend Captain Dave and Wind Knot.

    Great afternoon experience!!

Evening Trip – Salmon Private (PM)2 adults

David was very knowledgeable about he area. asked if we wanted to drop crab pots (not expected) then headed to a geat fihing spot. Was just myelf and my 15 year old son who neither of us had ever been on a charter boat. Started getting bites within minutes of droping our lines. My son pulled up a beautiful Chinook (had to release), I caught a 7.3 lbs salmon (able to keep), 2 flounder (choose to release), several fish right to the boat but spit the hook last minute. Great captain, we had a blast would definitely go again!! Memories both of us will always remember!

We took a family of 5, kids 7, 8, & 16 year olds. Captain Dave was paitient, accommodating, and an absolute pleasure to be on the water with. He knew right where the fish and crab were, and was able to visit about anything and engaged our children in discussion too! would definitely recommend!

    perfect late year trip

    Afternoon Trip – Salmon Private(PM)4 adults2 children

our family came down from northern Alberta Canada for a vacation to watch a seahawks game and so some last of the season fishing. We met captain David and he took us out for the afternoon. My youngest 10 yr old son had really gotten into fishing the last few years and we have not been ocean fishing before. Captin David did not disappoint, we caught every fish we could that was availbe that time of season and my sons highlight was being able to catch sharks that were not supposed to be around that late in the season. He was pumped and talked about it all night. definitely the highlight of our trip and something our son will never forget! thanks Captin David for the family memories! we will definitely be back!

    Chinook Salmon
    Coho Salmon

    Great Trip!

Morn. June Special Salmon Shared AM2 adults1 child

My 11 year old and I had a blast! Coming from Texas, we didn't know what to expect. I chose Capt Dave because I wanted my son to learn different techniques on how to fish, and not just troll fishing. Capt Dave was very clear and patient with my son. We caught all morning long! Capt stayed on the fish the whole time. Would definitely recommend and would definitely book again! Thanks Capt Dave for the trip of a lifetime!

    Response from Captain

Trip of a lifetime is our goal! While we can’t control the bite we do our best to find the fish! I’m glad your son had a blast on our Puget Sound Fishing charter!

Hatchery Chinook Salmon was good despite

Jul 24, 2026 • Seattle
Everyone with a boat was chasing Hatchery Chinook Salmon the past few weeks! We had strong success most days and on other days we released some beautiful wild Chinook salmon. The fishery is managed on a quota which means at some point the state will close the retention of these prized Chinook salmon. We will still find them while fishing for Coho salmon, but they must be released. The fishing this year was extremely crowded as only one marine area was open at a time. Combat fishing but still a great time. The crowds will thin out but the catch and release fishing will remain strong
