Captain Ricky Caton and his crew specialize in All Day Wreck Fishing Trips and Family Oriented Calm Water Inshore trips.The trips depend on your skill level and fish you want to catch. 'Inlet Adventure' and 'Happy Crabber' trips are family-oriented trips. You'll stay in the calm waters, so no one gets seasick and everyone has fun.
You'll be fishing from the 'Free Agent', a 42' boat built by the Gutheries. She's perfectly equipped for inshore and offshore fishing, having 3 bottom machines/fish finders, 4 GPS units, two VHF radios, a radar, and Sirus XM radio, so that you can listen to your favorite music. There's also enough shade to keep you out of the sun, the carpeted floor inside, and private bathroom downstairs. As the trips are child-friendly, the boat is also equipped with children-sized life vests.
The crew will cover your fishing license, rods, reels, lures, and live bait. You need to bring food, drinks, sun protection, a cooler for the catch, a camera, and rain gear. Your catch can be cleaned at the marina for an additional cost.

The Inlet Adventure 1/2 day Trip am on July 30, 2026 • 6 adultsFantastic trip today with my family of 5 and Capt Ricky and First Mate Jeff. These guys are seasoned professionals and did one hell of a job putting us on a full (1/2) dsy of fish. Rods were moving all day with bites. Had several triples and quadruples. Boated 39 fish in total. Boat was comfortable and my family wore smiles all day long.

I would have to say me and my family had such an amazing time on this charter one of the best days of our life thanks so much to captain Ricky and first mate Chris they are so knowledgeable and friendly make you feel right at home and welcome I highly recommend this charter for anyone we will definitely be booking them again. Caught a good amount of fish as soon as we got on them they kept us on them. Can't thank these 2 pros enough. Can say we made a couple great friends today.

1/2 day– Happy Crabber pm on June 10, 2020 • 6 adults • 1 childWe had a great time with Captain Rick and First Mate, Josh!! Both were very welcoming to our family of novice(literally, first time on a chartered boat) fishing group which ranged in ages from 8 to 70. We did a half day trip on the Sound side. Captain Rick told us we would be trolling for Spanish Mackerel. Captain Rick did a great job finding the fish and Josh was very patient with us as he educated us on what we needed to do. Wasn’t long and we were pulling in fish on the regular. Josh showed us how to unhook the caught fish and reset the lines in the water. We were allowed to go up in the Captain’s perch and check out the view as well. It was a very relaxed trip, but successful from the fishing standpoint too!! Josh was a lot of fun to talk to and we heard a few good fish stories to boot!! We hope to return and book a deep water trip with them next time we are in OBX. We would recommend Free Agent to anyone!!

It was my son's first time boat fishing and the crew went out of there way to accommodate us. Although we did not catch a shark as my son had wanted, we still had a amazing time and will be setting up a future trip with the Free Agent crew.

I started fishing because my grandfather was a commercial fisherman and I used to go with him. As soon as I graduated from high school, I moved to Hatteras Island, NC and started mating. I have fished from the Maryland, VA, line to South Carolina, as well as Florida, and in the Bahamas. I fished offshore as a mate for some of the icons of the Offshore Fishing Industry out of Oregon Inlet, NC. Tony Tillett, Buddy Cannady, and John Bayliss were 3 of the truly notable ones.
