Johannesburg Fly Fishing Guides – River 

Explore the South African freshwater areas by fishing the Vaal River with Johannesburg Fly Fishing Guides! Join Captain Raymond Rainbird as he takes you on an unforgettable adventure. He’s a local with over 25 years of experience, so you can be sure he knows all the best fishing spots in the area.

On this trip, you’ll mostly be wading through the river while testing your fly fishing skills. You can also hop aboard Capt. Raymond’s 4’ drift boat to cruise down the river and enjoy the beautiful views. The boat can take up to 4 people, so it can be a fun adventure for a few angler friends.

If you’d like to use your own equipment, feel free to bring it with you. You have the option to rent from the captain for an extra charge. Note that you are required to release all the fish back to the water after taking a nice photo.

This is a beautiful river with untouched nature, and it’s home to a variety of species. On this trip, you’ll focus mainly on Yellowfish and Catfish, but you’ll probably run into some Rainbow and Brown Trout as well. Note that anglers on this trip should be at least 16 years old, so you shouldn’t bring young kids.

Capt. Raymond will provide snacks and drinks for your refreshment. He’ll also take care of the fishing license, so you don’t have to worry about anything. Just make sure to bring some sunscreen so as to enjoy your time on the river, and you’re all set!
