Super Fly Charters
Super Fly Charters can’t wait to take you on a professional and friendly guided fishing trip. Captain John Coppola is based in the area known as the Kennebec watershed. His main target is striped bass, which he hunts on the rocky coast and the broad reach of the Kennebec River.
Capt. John welcomes you to join him on his 21’ Parker center console. The “Super Fly” accommodates up to 5 guests. There can be 2-3 rods in the water at a time. This boat is fully equipped with 2 fishfinders, GPS chart plotters, VHF radios, a cell phone, and all USCG-required safety equipment.
Capt. John’s fishing tactics include live baiting, casting popping plugs, soft plastics, and metal jigs with spinning rods. He also uses specialized “butterfly” jigging techniques. In addition to this, he’ll supply you with all the necessary tackle.

Policies:
Catch and release is highly encouraged. If you would like to keep some fish Capt. John requests that you consider keeping just one Striper per trip as the fishery is still recovering. You will be allowed to keep your legal limit if you so choose.
Cod are 1 per person 22" or larger September 1 - October 7. The cod fishery is tightly regulated and on the comeback. With little recreational participation, keeping a limit of cod is responsible.

..It was a misty Maine morning…
My first trip out for Stripers and with the change in the weather from bright clear sun I was a touch concerned. Captain John gave a warm welcome aboard his immaculate and well equipped boat. We were shortly into some bait that took a little working for. Off to the first mark, worked it for around 40 minutes and moved on to our second mark. I was into an excellent specimen within 20 minutes and the day went on to get better, with our eventually bagging striper, cod a spotted trout and a pollack. Captain John is a superb knowledgeable and friendly guide. It was an excellent day made all the better by his in-depth experience of the area and habits of the fish. I’ve got my second slot booked. It’s a fantastic day out.

A day with captain John
We booked a 4 hour fishing charter with Captain John but did not anticipate it to be as successful as it was. We set out in hopes of catching a striper for dinner and ended up with even more than that. Captain Johns boat was spacious & comfortable, allowing us out-of-staters to truly enjoy the scenery of ME. We had a toddler in tow who loved every second and Captain John encouraged her involvement. Not only did we fish for stripers but we had the privilege to fish for the bait as well. Captain John chartered us to where he knew we would be successful and guided us through the entire fishing experience. On our way back, he slowed the boat and let us enjoy watching seals! Truly a great experience and worth booking, we took home 3 slot stripers and caught 8 total, awesome day trip & looking forward to booking with him again.

Captain John is an excellent fisherman. His knowledge and experience is evident. I’ve been on three other striped bass fishing trips and have never caught one. I caught 6 fish. My brother caught 4. I would definitely book the trip again.
