Your adventure awaits in less than an hour’s ride from Puerto Vallarta. Operating out of Punta de Mita, Mexico, Marietas Sportfishing specializes in professionally guided fishing tours. Their trips are available year-round, so feel free to book your trip anytime. The captain has been fishing his whole life. He learned from his father since he was a kid, so there’s no fishing spot in the area he doesn’t know.
An important part of the captain’s service is assisting guests who’ve never fished before. He’s there to show you the first steps and help you catch your first fish. The best part of the job for him is when a novice gets hooked on fishing, or when an experienced person catches a new fish species for the first time. It’s all about learning something new, getting better at something you know, and having fun while doing it!
You’ll meet the captain at the marina and aboard his 27’ Nava skiff. This vessel accommodates up to 5 guests and there’s enough room for everybody to fish at the same time. The boat has a live bait tank, ice box, and features all necessary navigational and safety equipment. There’s also lots of room in the shade, so you don’t have to worry about getting sunburned.
Depending on the season, you could be reeling in Sailfish, Marlin, Yellowfin Tuna, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Jack Crevalle, Roosterfish, Pompano, Snapper, and more. If big game fishing is your goal for the day, book a full-day trip, as you’ll need more time to reach the depths that these ferocious species call home.
The captain will cover your fishing equipment and drinks for the day. He’ll also clean and fillet your catch but note that not all of the species can be kept. You only need to bring your food for the day and you’re ready to go.
Check out why anglers from all around the world are coming to this area, just for fishing! Marietas Sportfishing will make sure you leave their boat with a smile on your face and a few fresh fish fillets in the bag.

What a day of tuna fishing out of punta mita. The captain (Abraham) met us at the biat and asked what we wanted to fish for. We wanted to go for some sportfish and he indicated that there have been good tuna activity and sightings of spinner dolphins that morning. That sounded perfect and needed a little extra time for the day. Our two boys each landed a tuna (20 lbs and 40lbs) which was great and watching the action of chasing the birds, watching the spinner dolphins and casting out for tuna was truly entertaining! We're from the east coast and are on the water regularly and have never seen anything like that. Abraham and his first mate were great and catered to our every need. They then made us fresh ceviche on the boat, prepared our catch and recommended a good restaurant to prepare the fish walkable from the marina. The restaurant, Mariscos Tomas, is family run and the owner and his wife did a great job! Highly recommend

We learned that the local parlance for a catch with lots of variety is "ceviche". Well, ceviche is what we got. See the pic. All fish were caught bottom fishing with live squid. The highlight was a 12 kg African pompano, which my 12 yo caught and landed solo. Great boat, great captain, great crew. Highly recommended!
Our family of 5 (2 adults and 3 kids) had a great afternoon out on the Ocean fishing with Marietas Sport Fishing!! Our guides Eduardo and Juan provided us with an amazing day full of fishing and fun!! We caught 10 fish (rainbow runner, needle fish, 2 different types of snapper, mahi mahi, mackerel), saw many whales and even had a little dance party!! It was our kids favourite part of their first trip to Mexico! I highly recommend booking a trip with these guys!!
the captain and crew did everything in there power to find the biggest fish and as a normal fisherman it was easy to see they were working so hard even tho the catch might not reflect it. reef fishing, trolling, casting, soaking everything to find these fish we will definitely be coming back for another full day.
Great day on the water blasting yacht rock tunes and catching lots of species! Eduardo was a top notch guide, great work trying different techniques and switching things up so we all caught different kinds of fish. The dude was a real fisherman, easy to tell he loves what he does and wants you to have a great experience. Exactly what we were looking for in a Mexican fishing excursion! Next time will do a full day in bigger boat for offshore fish!

Captain Jose has been sport fishing for 10 years, licensed for 7 years. Jose decided to become a captain because he grew into it β his father was also a captain and he learned in the family business since very young. The favorite part of his job is watching first-timers catch a big fish and experienced anglers catch something new for them. Guest satisfaction is important to him and happy customers are his goal.
