Kraken Sportfishing is ready to show you what these plentiful waters have to offer! Departing out of Mission Bay San Diego, you'll be in a prime position to explore everything from fish-filled kelp beds to offshore hotspots. Your guide is lifelong angler Captain Leng Bai, who has plenty of tips and tricks up his sleeve.
Captain Leng runs an impressive variety of shared and private charters, which are all customizable. No matter your skill level, you'll find something to suit you perfectly. Newer anglers or families can opt for exciting, budget-friendly shorter trips to nearshore waters, where Halibut, Calico Bass, and Rockfish can be found. More experience under your belt? Head out for a full day and battle oversized Tuna!
You'll be fishing from the 'Kraken,' a 2004 Grady White Islander. She measures a spacious 29ft with room for up to 6 guests, and is powered by twin Yamaha 4-stroke 150 HP outboard engines. Capt. Leng has had the boat outfitted for all types of fishing, and you'll find top-quality navigational electronics on board to guide you to the hotspots.
Capt. Leng employs a wide range of fishing methods, including deepsea fishing, fishing with live bait and lures, sightcasting & spearfishing. Using a mix of these methods, he'll have you targeting a wide range of species, including Tuna species, Mahi Mahi, Yellowtail, Halibut, Sea Bass, Lingcod, Sheephead, and Rockfish.
If you'd like to spearfish, you must have some experience and bring your own gear along. prefer to try a more conventional technique? Your captain has mounted grand-slam outriggers for trolling, as well as Penn, Phoenix, and Calstar rods paired with Penn, Daiwa, Okuma, and Accurate reels.
Your trip includes all necessary bait and tackle needed . Snacks & drinks are also provided free of charge. A customary 20-30% gratuity is not included in the price but very much appreciated.

The guys couldn't stop talking about the trip, Captain Leng and the great time they had on the 6-hour deep sea fishing excursion. They're already making plans for the next time we're in SD to do an overnight or 1.5 day trip to catch tuna. If you're undecided about which fishing charter to book, don't look any further. We had an amazing time with Captain Leng. Our son learned tips and tricks throughout the day, and we caught more fish than any other ocean fishing excursion. Makes a tremendous difference having a very knowledgeable & experienced fishing host for the day. We highly recommend taking advantage of this experience.
Captain Leng took me and my 3 buddies out fishing, and it was an experience we will never forget ! We went out boys and came back men. We had zero experience, but Captain Leng walked us through everything and taught us with kindness and patience. He was so generous and nice. We caught fish, and when we came back he even gave us a couple lobster. Truly an amazing captain and person, had an incredible time highly recommend !
Fantastic trip! I came to carch some good eating fish while i was staying in San Diego and boy did they deliver! Had a great time with the crew and got more than enough to cook and bring back home with me. looking forward to coming back in the fall for round 2!
Our trip was cut a bit short due to me getting sea sick but the Captain did everything he could to try to make the expierence as enjoyable as possible, he was very knowledgeble, explained and demostrated how to use the equipment. We ended up catching four fishes and could have been more if it wasn’t because us feeling sick. I would defenitly reccomend choosing Karken Marine Sports Fishing for your upcoming fishing trip!
