If you’re looking for some of the best fishing that money can buy out of Key West, Florida, you can’t go wrong with Corsair 2 Sportfishing. With over 3 decades of local fishing experience under his belt, Captains Russ McKinley or Jeff Rohland should be your choice if you want to get the best out of these deep blue waters.
His boat is a 50’ Hatteras saltwater fishing boat that can take up to 6 anglers fishing at the same time. Powered by twin 550 HP Detroit Diesel engines, this fishing machine is unstoppable on the water.
The vessel comes rigged with state-of-the-art navigational electronics and safety equipment, outriggers, a fighting chair, a live bait tank, and ice-boxes. It’s also very comfortable and features 2 private restrooms, a kitchen, a flybridge, beds, and AC.
This beauty can take you for some amazing deep sea and reef fishing up to 25 miles offshore on full day trips. These trips will also provide higher chances of catching Marlin! If you book a half day trip, you’ll be fishing in a 6–12 mile range. Depending on the package and the bite, your target list will include Mahi Mahi, Blackfin Tuna, Wahoo,King Mackerel,Sailfish, Marlin, Snapper, Grouper, and many other attractive species.
Corsair 2 Sportfishing will provide the finest fishing gear and lures. You’ll get a chance to catch your own bait on the way to the most productive fisheries. The first mate will gladly clean your catch and help you with everything you need, so 20% gratuity for his efforts is customary. Feel free to bring any snacks and drinks to be stored in the onboard cooler. Also, bring sunscreen and hats.

Half Day Trip (AM)
Book the trip!!
The trip was awesome and we all four caught something but only two keepers! Captain Russ and first mate Stan were amazing! Gave us recommendations on where to take our fish to be cooked and some good local fresh seafood places to go as well! Even a good haunt! We got lucky and caught two mahi-mahi and a black grouper late in the season! Grouper was unfortunately 2in shy of being able to keep it. Also caught a barracuda. Couldn’t have picked a better captain and first mate for our trip!

Half Day Trip – Fall (AM)
Nice Day for a Boat ride!
We booked our charter in September. We knew it was a slow time of season but we chose Corsair based on price and reviews. Captain Russ and his first mate were very kind and professional. Very informative. We had a slow day of fishing but two very exciting catches! One half eaten macrol, bitten by a shark on the way in, and the catch of the day went to the sailfish! When we hooked the sailfish, they acted quickly and efficiently to bring it to the boat safely. It was a catch and release, but they worked diligently to get it on board and measured so we coukd have it mounted for the trophy wall. They were also very parient getting it back into the water properly and ensuring its safe release. What a great experience!! Will definitely book with this charter again. Thank you!

3/4 Day Trip (AM)
Great boat, phenomenal crew, for the best day of our lices
I'm going to start with being from Pennsylvania, we have no idea what we were doing or getting into.. before hand the Captain and hand made sure we knew what do, what paths to the gear to stay clear of, etc...the ride out there was beautiful we seen a dolphin, too quick for pictures and a 12 foot hammerhead on the way out, really freaking cool..just about out to where we started tossing gear we were passing some beautiful jellyfish..got to the spot and it did not take long at all, my brother Dan was in the fighting chair with what we did y know at the time, a sizable barracuda, to us it was huge and he had so much fun fighting it, then it was my turn..started seeing a bunch of flying fish, which was a sight to see on its own..then it began! Mahi mahi man the fish we wanted to really get out of the few that we targeted... Absolutely gorgeous fish, I had watched so many fishing videos and only dreamt of catching mahi mahi.. beautiful bull, all in all we brought 4 beautiful mahi home and it was so very much worth the money! Money well freaking spent! 100/10 would do it again with this crew

Half Day Trip (AM)
No Keepers, but a great day on the water!!!
Capt Russ and 1st Mate Jeff were great, the boat is older but still solid and ran great! I read some negative reviews about both the crew and boat, but our experience was not that at all. We had a great day, great weather and caught 3 large barracuda. The sargassum was spread out all over and we fought constant fouling of the lures but that was no reflection on the Capt or crew, it just wasn’t a great day specifically for trolling. The boat’s A/C worked great and the bathroom were clean. They had an applicant for the job of 1st mate “shadowing” Jeff today so the changing of baits was a little slower than I expect it would normally be, but the fishing was slow as well so it wasn’t a big deal. All in all we had a great time and a great day on the water. If we make it back to Key West we will definitely go on the Corsair II again but will probably go the full day instead of the half day. Thank you Capt Russ and 1st mate Jeff (and shadow Danny) for a great day, even if we didn’t bring home fish, we had a great experience.

Perfect AM fishing in Key West
I had a great time with Captain Russ and Jeff today! They were both fun to talk to and very accommodating. They got me on a Barracuda shortly after dropping the lines and not long after got hooked up on a nice Wahoo!! We got on another fish not long afterwards but it unhooked before we could see any color. Overall I had such a fun time and I will be booking with them again the next time I visit. I recommend them to anyone looking for a great time out fishing!

Capt Russ and 1st Mate Jeff were great, the boat is older but still solid and ran great! I read some negative reviews about both the crew and boat, but our experience was not that at all. We had a great day, great weather and caught 3 large barracuda.
