Last Resort Guide Service
Boulder Junction is the Musky capital of the world! There are well over 250 lakes in the area. Join Last Resort Guide Service for a chance to explore some of the beautiful nature the area has to offer!
Guide Steve Roginske has been fishing these waters since the 1960s, and he has over two decades of guiding experience. You can be sure that he'll know exactly where to take you for a productive fishing trip.
Join him on his 18' Skeeter performance boat powered by a 115 HP Mercury motor. It's equipped with GPS and fishfinder units to make your fishing more successful. The boat can accommodate up to 4 people, and multiple people can fish at the same time depending on how experienced they are.
The lakes contain a good population of Musky, Bass, and Walleye. Your guide will provide fishing gear, as well as lures. He also has spinning rods, and he matches the type of fishing to the anglers' abilities. He'll be happy to clean your fish, so you can taste your own catch after the trip!
Guide Steve likes fishing with kids if they are interested in it. He provides them with special equipment, Musky rods that look like a Snoopy pole. It's great for children since it casts on a push of a button. There are also life jackets for them on board.
Some lakes have bathroom facilities, so you can have a break at any time. Your guide wants to make sure everyone's comfortable, so he is very open to any wishes you may have.
Boulder junction is a great area for a family vacation to make some great memories together. All you need to bring are some snacks and drinks, some hats, and you're all set for an unforgettable lake adventure!

We booked a half-day guided trip while we were in the Minocqua area, and Steve was everything you hope a fishing guide will be. We were targeting musky, and before we ever made a cast, he spent nearly an hour driving us to the area he felt gave us the best opportunity. Along the way he explained fish behavior, water conditions, answered every question we had, and shared stories that made the drive fly by. Once we got on the water, he didn’t just put rods in our hands and start fishing. He took the time to teach each of us how to use a baitcasting reel, making sure everyone was comfortable before we ever started. Then he walked us through lure selection, casting angles, lure presentation, retrieval speed, and each person’s role on the boat so we all understood exactly what we were trying to accomplish. Throughout the day Steve was patient, encouraging, and constantly coaching. Whether it was correcting technique, untangling bird’s nests, fixing crossed lines, or helping my 8-year-old son and 18-year-old nephew, he never made anyone feel rushed or frustrated. He genuinely wanted us to learn and enjoy the experience. We landed one beautiful 34-inch musky, but honestly the fish wasn’t what made the trip special. Steve turned it into an experience we’ll remember for years. We booked a four-hour trip, but between the drive and the extra time he spent with us, he gave us far more than we expected. My son and nephew talked about Steve, the musky, and the day on the water for the rest of our vacation. I’m confident this is one of those memories our family will still be telling stories about 20 years from now. If you’re looking for someone who is extremely knowledgeable, patient, personable, and truly invested in giving you a great day on the water—not just catching fish—I can’t recommend Steve highly enough. We’ll absolutely book with him again the next time we’re in the Minocqua area.

Thank you for the kind words. Your team had good presentations that will help out with any species you fish. The Muskie fought extra hard they instinctively try to shake the hooks and get off. your son had a good hookset. I'm happy it was memorable trip!

Capt. Steve is really knowledgeable and very friendly. Made a really nice day in the water!

Frank I am glad you enjoyed the trip. your team casted well in tandem. you did a great job working the structure. everyone did well during a tough bite.

Bob thanks for making it a fun trip for all aboard. Glad you had some quality time with your Grandson.
Steve was a great guy and we had great conversations, and along with that we got to go fishing. Even though we didn’t get the exact job we wanted to get done it was still a great time.

It was fun fishing with you and Sienna. It was a tough bite with some short strikes. We lost the one boat side I wish we could have one more chance!
We had an amazing experience on our fishing trip with Captain Steve. From the moment we got on the boat, Captain Steve made us feel welcome and excited for the day ahead. He was knowledgeable, patient, and great with my son, who was beyond thrilled to catch his very first Muskie!

Had fun with the group, you underestimated your fishing abilities it made it easy for me to cover the areas and keep you close to the fish. Everyone did a good job casting and working both sides of the boat!
The elder guides asked me to get my guide license and help take people out fishing. I have been fishing all my life. I still meet with the senior guides and we talk about conditions and lake activities. My goal is to match a fishing presentation that will work for the customer to catch fish. I welcome beginner anglers as well as experienced anglers. We will choose the type lake based on the time of year and the species we are fishing for.
