North Vancouver's Fraser Legends Fishing has its very own motto: 'Create your own legend.' What could be more legendary than catching your very own Sturgeon? Even better, you'll be able to reach your own personal world record and help conserve this incredible prehistoric fish at the same time.

The man behind your trip, Captain Peter Krahn, is a staunch supporter of the Sturgeon Conservation Society. He's an official Sturgeon-tagger, and this respect for these creatures is at the center of the adventures he offers on board his charter.

When you embark on your trip with Capt. Peter, you'll help with tagging, measuring, and checking the health of these magnificent fish before releasing them back into one of the mighty rivers – Fraser, Pitt, and Harrison. These fish are pretty acrobatic, so expect to witness some impressive leaps out of the water!

You'll get to submit the information you gather on your fish to the Fraser River White Sturgeon Conservation Society for cataloging and registration of information. If you're the first person to catch and tag a specific fish, your name will be registered as the original angler. You'll be part of this fish's history!

You'll be fishing from your captain's 19' KingFisher jet boat, built to cruise these freshwater fishing grounds. She's decked out with all the necessary safety and navigational gear and can accommodate up to 4 guests. Sometimes there are periods of waiting for the fish to bite, so children should be 12 years or older to join in on the fun.

Family Learn to Fish/Picnic Option or Hard Core Sturgeon Fishing Family Learn to Fish/Picnic Option: In the Family Learn to Fish/Picnic option, families with young children (3 to 10 years old) can fish for sturgeon, (usually 1 or 2 hours) and then learn to fish for smaller species and if they pack a picnic lunch or pick a lunch up at a local shoreside bistro can combine fishing with a shoreside picnic. The picnic sites are either a small sandy beach or a campground with picn

What a cool experience!
6 Hour Trip on July 17, 20264 adults

We have fished several places and diff species and this is one to remember. Peter has passion for his job, for the species and for teaching others that is infections. The knowledge he has and his efforts to improve the sport of fishing are admirable. Now for the fishing...the boat is well cared for with everything one needs in a cold wet day. The instruction was spot on, and we caught a lot of sturgeon. All of us got at least one and we loved learning the process of measuring, tagging and releasing. It was perfect. Felt like we learned a lot, had a blast, got to see the sights, a few seals, deer too....and we contributed to the data. TY Peter for a great time.

Best trip ever
6 Hour Trip on July 14, 20262 adults2 children

Captain Peter did not disappoint his extensive knowledge of the Sturgeon Fish the research we performed was something we've never experienced. We landed four fish. All fish were untagged so we got to tag, measure, named and release them. The Hail Mary at the end of the trip was one for the record books being able to get into the water next to the 6 foot 8 Surgeon Fish. This was a core memory that will never be forgotten by our kids nor ourselves.

Wow what a fish
6 Hour Trip on August 6, 20252 adults

Peter the skipper is a very passionate and knowledgeable man about Sturgeon. This trip was not just about catching a fish,it was an education into the river, the eco system and the importance of balance. On the day the fish were being hard to locate. After a couple of list fish due to hook pulls we had a series of missed bites. Peter kept our spirits up and tried different spits to get us a fish on the boat. With little time left we had one more bite. This fish tore off and breached the water. This fish was not getting on the boat, it was too big! Peter calmly gave us instructionswhile he manovered the boat to shore. We safely landed the fish, quickly measuring and checking for a tag before a quick photo and a safe realease. At 177cm long (5ft 9) it was a big fish. There are bigger ones out there and can't wait to have another go. I would highly recommend this skipper. If you are thinking of having a go, stop thinking and just do it.

Best Fishing Charter We've taken.
4 Hour Trip (AM) on September 20, 20253 adults

Absolutely the best charter we've taken. Peter was amazing and so knowledgeable about the river and the fish. it was a ton of fun scanning the 3 fish we caught for a microchip and then measuring them and checking for any damage to the fish. Would 100 percent recomend this charter to anyone looking to go sturgeon fishing.

I grew up fishing on the Fraser River and became a chemical and environmental engineer specializing in environmental forensic research, legislation development and law enforcement. Throughout my life, I have worked in environmental protection and enforcing our fisheries legislation. It is only natural to make my profession my hobby and I enjoy every day out on the water. The truth is that fishing for these 'Fraser River Marlin' as they are often called requires strength and stamina so it is always good to have others come out with me. I work in support of the Fraser River White Sturgeon Conservation Society, and tagging and measuring these fish and recording their health makes my passengers 'Citizen Scientists' as they not only get a thrill of a lifetime but also help us collect the scientific data needed to manage this great fishery. Sharing this experience with people who love to fish and respect our wild heritage is a great way to spend the day. I look forward to meeting you.
