A local and professional guide, Guide Jared Lindquist has over 20 years of fishing experience in the area, and 14 years of guiding. He welcomes all types of anglers, and he’ll make sure you have an amazing day on the water with his knowledge and expertise of the area.
Depending on time of year,
Jared will take you out on one of his 3 boats. Either a 20.5 ft alumaweld supervee prop powered boat, a 20ft willie drift boat, or an 18ft chandler jet powered boat. All perfect for fishing the waters of the Kenai and Kasilof Rivers. Boats are equipped with life jackets and all safety gear required by the Coast Guard.
The waters are very prolific, and they hold some of the biggest trout and salmon in North America. Depending on the time of year, you could be fishing for 4 out of the 5 Salmon species – King Salmon, Silver Salmon, Sockeye Salmon, and Pink Salmon! Monster Rainbow Trout and Dolly Varden fishing are a favorite as well. Based on the captain's recommendation, you will fish on either Kenai or Kasilof River.
Your guide will provide you with all the fishing equipment necessary to give you the best chances at every species on the river – the highest quality in rods, reels, bait, and tackle. Jared runs all types of rods to fit every skill level or preference. It doesn't matter if you conventional, spin or fly fish, he will have you covered for a variety of techniques.
At the end of the trip, Jared will clean and fillet your catch for you, so you can take it straight to the table upon your return home. Feel free to bring your kids along and show them how fun fishing can be, making some great memories. All you have to do is buy a fishing license before the trip, bring some rain gear, food, and drinks, and you’re all set!

Capt Jared was great. He switched meeting location right before our trip to get on a part of the river that had more fish, but communication was great so that was not a issue at all. We met at new location he got us geared up and into the boat the weather was perfect and we had a beautiful boat ride to our spot. he explained the technique and was very patient and helpful all trip. My wife must have listened better then me because she was the first to get a sockeye and also her limit. Being on the Kenai with my wife watching her get so excited about catching fish along with the weather and views of the river and mountains made for a memory we will never forget. Thank You Jared.
We came to Alaska with one goal in mind — to fish for salmon — and booking with Jared for our first day was absolutely the best decision we made! Jared took the time to teach us the flossing technique, explain what to do when our lines got tight, and make sure we understood the process. We arrived early in the season for this year’s run, but thanks to Jared’s guidance, we were able to hook into some fish and take our new knowledge with us to successfully fish the following four days. Jared was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and friendly. He went far beyond simply being a charter guide — he truly cared about helping us have the best experience possible. Thank you, Jared, for an unforgettable trip! We hope to bring our brother with us next year and have the opportunity to fish with you again.
In spite of the low numbers of sockeye current present in the Kenai Jared selected his very best hot spots and continuously helped all four people fishing to get bumps, hook-ups and catches as much as possible. My husband and I got 3 sockeyes each for a total of 6 and loss several more. We saw virtually no one in the 3-5 other boats that went out at the same time and to nearby locations get as many per person. Best of all Jared is a fantastic person and guide that makes every moment memorable. Can’t wait to go out again multiple times with Jared next time we are in Soldotna.

My husband, my two-year-old toddler, and I had the best time fishing with Jared! He was incredibly patient and accommodating with our toddler, which made the experience enjoyable and stress-free for our whole family. Jared was knowledgeable, friendly, and worked hard to make sure we had a successful day on the water. Thanks to his guidance, we were able to catch several sockeye salmon and create memories we’ll be talking about for years. If you’re looking for a family-friendly fishing guide who truly cares about his clients, we highly recommend Jared!

Best guide around! Jared had a solid plan, got us to the best spot before anyone else, and kept us dialed in with great instruction all day. Even during a slow run, our group caught six salmon while nearby groups were catching none. Other guides even stopped to ask how we were having success. Jared stayed focused on our group and made the trip a blast. Highly recommend—don’t book with anyone else!
