Fall is here!! Captain Drew Cavanaugh, welcomes you to Florida Inshore Fishing Charters! He runs fishing trips in New Smyrna Beach backcountry, Ponce Inlet nearshore, Port Canaveral nearshore, Daytona, Cocoa Beach and the Orlando area saltwater flats year round. He equally accommodates both novices and experienced anglers, so there’s something for everyone.
Join Capt. Drew on his 2023 21 foot Pathfinder Bay boat that accommodates up to 6 anglers at certain times. (Please be sure to ask him about this if you have more than 4 people going before you book.) His boat is powered by a 150 HP Yamaha engine and equipped with Garmin GPS/Fish Finder, VHF and more. The boat also features two live-well bait tank, a YETI cooler, and a wireless Minn Kota trolling motor, when you need to sneak up on fish with spot lock.
Since Capt. Drew specializes in backcountry water flats fishing and nearshore reef fishing you’ll mainly go after fish using light spin tackle. Targeted species are for Tarpon, Snappers, Redfish, Pompano, Whiting, Jacks, Lady Fish, Cobia, Snapper, Tripletail, Snook, Sea Trout, and Black Drum.
Capt. Drew will fully cover your saltwater fishing licenses and equipment, and he usually prepares live bait in advance. He can also bring fly fishing equipment for you, just make sure to mention this in advance. There’s going to be fresh bottled water on the boat but you can always bring other beverages you prefer and your snacks. Just no glass please.
Florida Inshore Fishing Charters is a family-friendly charter, so kids and all are welcome. Choose a date and spend a lovely, relaxing day on the flats!
We will either meet in Cocoa Beach, Port Canaveral, Ormond Beach, New Smyrna Beach, or Daytona Beach. This depends on where we are catching the most of the targeted fish you want and gets us closer to them. We will know the address to meet a few days before your trip.
Located just east of Orlando, Disney, Kissimmee by 45 Minutes.

We hire Captain Drew Cavanaugh every time we come to Florida and have yet to be let down. He is local and been doing this for over 20 years now. I think this is maybe our 5th year doing a fishing trip with him. He knows the areas and knows the fish. He is the go to tarpon guide for Ponce Inlet waters. I have fished with Captain Drew many times over the past several years. He is by far the number one captain in New Smyrna Beach, class act. Professional. We either do a nearshore tarpon charter from his other guide business in New Smyrna Beach or do a backcountry sight fishing charter with this one on the Mosquito Lagoon.
