Join Sure Thing Charters and Captain Steve Young for a fun and enjoyable fishing adventure out of Stuart, Florida. Captain Steve’s boat was built in Florida to handle its waters and will provide a comfortable ride to the fish and back. She’s fully equipped for whatever type of boating adventure you desire.
The captain offers inshore, nearshore, and offshore fishing. For the experienced divers, Lobster and spearfishing trips are also available. The prices are based on how long you’re interested in fishing and your preferences. All the trips are designed for up to 4 fishermen and two non-fishermen. and are customer-tailored to you.
Your trip will take place on a restored 30’ Contender center console powered by twin 300 HP engines. The boat uses GPS, fishfinder, and radio navigation electronics and is equipped with outriggers, downriggers, and a livewell. There’s also a wireless trolling motor for more convenient fishing and a multimedia system for a more fun trip.
Among the wide range of species you can target, there’s Mahi Mahi, Jack Crevalle, Sailfish, Tuna, Black Seabass, Snapper, Sheepshead, and more. To attract them, you can bottom fish, troll, spearfish, jig, and more. Both light and heavy tackle will be used.
The fish you catch is yours to keep if you want to and you’re free to bring kids on your trip. Captain Steve will take care of all the fishing gear, catch cleaning, bottled water, and fishing licenses, so you should only bring some snacks.

Captain Steve - our favorite!

From the moment we booked, Captain Steve was on-top of things. He called to confirm the details of our booking and clarify our preferences for fish type, setting, and experience level. We opted to meet him at his house and drop-in because, despite being a pseudo-local, I had never seen the St. Lucie River, and honestly I’d recommend the experience because his property is lovely, well-maintained, and not isolated. His boat is also well maintained, clean, and comfortable. He was very knowledgeable about tidal patterns and fishing spots. I told him I wanted to catch Sheepshead and he made it happen! Also my mom got a touch seasick and he was very considerate of her wellbeing and even offered to stop for a land break at a coastal wildlife park. I’d 100% recommend Sure Thing Charters.

Booked trip day before our trip. Captain called later ask what I wanted to fish for, I told him snapper good eating fish for a family cookout. And Captain Steve delivered we brought home over 20 snapper. Very knowledgeable about area . Thanks Captain Steve.

Sure, every charter captain is going to do their best to put you on fish and make your trip enjoyable. Captain Steve and first mate Lisa were no exception, going above and beyond to accommodate everyone on the boat. Not only did they put us on a variety of fish, including my first mahi mahi, but the two of them were very personable, funny, and willing to share their knowledge.
Honestly, it was like spending a day on the water with old friends.

Half day trip inshore fishing

We originally wanted to do a half day offshore but the waves had another idea. Captain Steve knew all the right places for us to get some fish, and the day was a success regardless! As someone who had never fished before he made me very comfortable giving it a go, and made sure I caught something (a few actually!), and my husband was able to catch us dinner. Captain Steve was friendly, laid back, knowledgeable and made the experience very fun! The boat was nice, plenty of equipment and gadgets on board for whatever kind of fishing you want to do. We will for sure be booking with Captain Steve again when the seas are in our favour!
