The Fraser River is British Columbia's longest and largest river. With it's humble beginnings at the outlet of Fraser Lake it traverses 1375 km through the heart of BC before spilling it's precious water into the Pacific Ocean near Vancouver. With in this massive stretch of water lie's a 30 km piece that is arguably some of the finest and most beautiful white sturgeon fishing in the world, this is the Fraser Canyon.
Located 40 minutes east of Chilliwack this remarkable stretch of the river produces the biggest of the big. This is the best opportunity for an angler to hook into truly large trophy sturgeon often over 9 feet (3 meters) and weighing up to 900 lbs (400 kg). Approximately 70% of the many 10' plus (3.5 meters) fish that we have taken over the last 30 years have been in the canyon!! These impressive fish are what dreams are made of, once you have one of these behemoth's break water next to the boat and then scream hundreds of yards of line you will be hooked.
The canyon's terrain is like nothing you've ever seen. Unlike the mid and lower portions of the river, where the waters are slower, wider and often controlled by man made dykes. The canyon is an un-tamed technical piece of the river where the mountains seem to rise straight out of river, towering above in great peaks and crevices. The waters, being hemmed in by these colossal mountains of granite, are turbid and powerful, this requires the best jet boats with plenty of horse power and seasoned veteran guides to access.
Out guides have more experience traveling this grand stretch of river than anyone, period. In fact often we will not see another boat for day's, this is a very exclusive opportunity to enjoy a very unique remote fishing experience .
Spend the day with Great River Fishing Adventures and let them show you what makes the fishing in Fraser Canyon so memorable!
