Fish Taxi Sportfishing has a goal of you catching lots of fish and have fun doing it! Join captain Jason Montgomery and his experienced crew. They run fishing trips out of Oceanside and they can take you out on the water any time of year. Join regardless of your skill level, as any trip can be adjusted to fit your needs!
You’ll be fishing from a 34’ flybridge that can comfortably welcome up to 6 anglers. She’s powered by twin 380 HP Cummins engines and will get you wherever you need to be in no time. The top notch navigational electronics will help you locate schools of fish and then the crew will get you ready with professional fishing equipment.
Your technique and approach will be different depending on the fish you want to catch. You can switch between trolling, spinning, bottom fishing, or deep sea fishing. Closer to the shore, you’ll have high chances of catching Halibut, Calico Bass, Rockfish, and small Sharks. Reaching offshore spots brings something new to the plate, such as Mahi Mahi, Lingcod, Tuna, and Barracuda.
Besides Shimano and Pen gear, the captain will also prepare live bait before your trip starts. There will also be some snacks and drinks but feel free to bring your own. The crew will also clean your catch and, although not mandatory, tips are appreciated for the service.

3 Hour "Shorty" Trolling Adventure
Great 3hr Shorty Trip. Perfect for families to get out on the water in an easy beginner setting.
Great time on Fish Taxi with Capt. Jason and Mate Joseph. Very friendly, knowledgeable, and patient with a passion for fishing. Boat was comfortable and spacious. We caught 6 different species (rock bass, calico bass, sculpin, mackerel, sheepshead, and barracuda) and enough keepers of the former 3 species to make a large batch of ceviche for a lunch later that afternoon. This 3 hr trip is perfect for beginners and families looking to get out on the water without having to commit an entire day. A short beautiful boat ride from the marina to fishing grounds meant little down time and mostly fishing during those 3 hours. Through no fault of the Captain, I had mixed up the departure time and showed up 45 min late to the boat. But even with an afternoon charter planned, the Captain cut his own midday break time short and still honored the full 3hrs which was greatly appreciated. Please note that the departure time may possibly vary to what is posted on this site due to fishing conditions. The Captain knew there was an early bite and notified me immediately when I booked that we would be leaving earlier than posted. It was my fault for not reading the text entirely. Once again, the Captain was putting full effort in providing the highest possible chances for success, which we found. I will definitely be taking the family on this trip next time we are in Oceanside, and you should too.

3 HOUR "TWILIGHTER TROLL'
Captain Jason got us on fish!!!
We had a great time on our twilight troll. Captain Jason told us he would get us on fish. He delivered. We caught sand bass, calico bass, sculpins, whitefish, rock fish, flounder, mackerel, and Spanish mackerel. We walked away with a huge bag of fillets. Crew was super helpful and polite answered all our questions even if they may have seemed dumb. As Coloradans we don’t know much about sea fishing but they we all kind and patient with us. I would definitely book again. The joy of finding and catching was evident on all the crew. They seem to love what they are doing and it comes through in the experience we had. Thank you to Jason, RJ, and Drake.

3 Hour "Shorty" Trolling Adventure
Had a Great time
Our family of four had a great time fishing with Captain Jason & first mate Tristan. We went out on a 3 hour expedition and we anchored once Captain Jason got us to a "good" spot. The bait was in the water within moment of getting the boat secured and we started getting 'hits' on our lines almost immediately. My daughter caught the first fish, then my son caught the next, and then we all had to grab a pole and we were all catching fish. We were in a huge school of mackerel and they were taking our bait before it could get the bait below them to where we could possibly catch something larger. But the most important parts were that everyone had fun, the Captain & Firstmate were top notch, and no one got too motion sick from the rolling waves. We highly recommend booking with FishTaxi if youe looking for a great family outing. Next time, a 3 day trip for Blue Fin Tuna!

7 Hour Trip – Coastal Quest
7 hour coastal trip.
My son and I had a blast on our 7 hour trip with Captain Jason and Collin. They gave us 120% and it showed. We caught our limits of Rock Fish (delicious), and caught a variety of White sea bass, leopard shark, and calico bass. This was my sons first trip and they truly made it a memorable one. He’s already asking when we can go again. Thanks for an amazing time.

5 Hour Fun Trip (AM)
Great Trip!
Captain Jason and RJ gave my kids and I a great fishing trip. We booked a half day and it was the perfect trip for my younger ones. We caught some sharks while trolling to and from the fishing spot. Also caught a bunch of rock fish. They kept us reeling in stuff almost the entire time and we went home with a cooler full of fresh fish! Doesn't get much better than that. Thanks guys!
