Hi, my name is Captain Robert Horachek from Kingfisher Backcountry Charters, Inc. I have lived in the Keys most of my life and have been fishing since I was a kid. Over 20 years later, I established “Kingfisher Backcountry Charters, Inc.” which was named after my late uncle’s charter boat called “Kingfisher”. He was a great angler and charter captain who inspired me to NEVER give up. I’m hoping to make a new legacy in honor of him. So come and join me as we go after Tarpon, Bonefish, Permit, and other flats/backcountry species throughout the Florida Keys! Experienced and non experienced anglers of all ages are welcome.

As a lifelong resident here in the Florida Keys, my experience on the water has been a journey with many achievements, including junior master angler in both the Key West fishing Tournament and the South Florida MET Tournament. Other notable catches were an 80lb Wahoo that I caught when I was 13 years old. The Wahoo was a former junior world record holder through the IGFA. My goal and mission statement is to provide the best professional guide service by achieving success out on the water with lasting memories and stories to be told.

I have over 20 years of experience fishing in the Florida Keys. I fished a lot offshore with my dad, uncle, and cousin for most of my life. I decided to start fishing inshore for the visual experience of sight fishing the flats for spooky fish. The Adrenaline rush is there kinda like seeing a 12 point buck walking into bow range or hitting a grand slam home home to put your baseball team ahead to win the game. To me

I booked a 1/2 day trip with Captain Rob and it could not have been a better experience. The goal was bonefish and permit on the fly rods but conditions were not ideal. He did put my sons and I on to Jacks, Tarpon and a Barracuda and ended the day with a few fly fishing tips with the boys. This was my boys’ first visit to Key West and this was the highlight of their trip! I would highly recommend booking with Captain Rob as communication up to the trip was excellent.

Thank you for the review Devin. I’m glad to hear that this was the highlight of the trip down to Key West. Definitely try to come back down with your boys again so we seal the deal on some Bonefish!

I bought the half day fishing trip for my 10 year old son and his Grandma.  They had such a great time and caught lots of fish!  Capt Robert was a great guide and they learned a lot.  Definitely recommend!

Thank you Julie for the review. I hope this is a fishing trip that your son will talk about for a while.

Capt. Robert was outstanding. Very personable, informative, and attentive. He really knew where to find fish and worked hard on a hot July day to do so. We caught several tarpon as well as a bonefish and a permit.
Great fishing experience!
Recommend highly.
