Depending on the time of year, you might hook into Goliath Grouper, Great Barracuda, Tarpon, Bonefish, Permit, Mangrove Snapper, and anything else that bites. During the trip you might be spinning, or maybe something more specialized in this area. Capt. Caiman also offers fly fishing, but you may need to bring your own fly gear.
Capt. Caiman believes in teaching kids to fish while they're young, so the whole family can come and unplug for the day! If you don't have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there's one on board. Also remember to bring snacks for a boost of energy when needed!
Capt. Caiman will bring you aboard a 17' Maverick flats boat with space for 2 passengers. It comes with all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. Rods, reels, and tackle are provided, as well as lures. Live bait is available, but you should ask the captain whether you'll be catching it yourself.
There's no need to buy a fishing license, just show up ready for a good time! Some fish have special regulations, including when you can keep them. Your captain will help you follow regulations while you fish.
It's always wise to bring sunglasses, a hat, and sunblock (non-spray). Drinks are included, free of charge. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be food and some light snacks provided on board.

We had an awesome 12-hour trip in the Keys with Caiman. Even with windy conditions and tough fishing at times, he worked hard all day and stayed focused on putting us on fish. His knowledge of the area and the fishery really showed throughout the trip. The highlight was definitely catching sharks and barracuda on the flats — an incredible experience. We ended up catching snapper, barracuda, lemon sharks, and nurse sharks, which made for a very action-packed day. If you’re looking for a guide who is experienced, hardworking, and determined to make sure you have a great trip regardless of conditions, I highly recommend fishing with Caiman.
My wife and I went out with Capt. Caiman on a very windy day, however, he put us on fish and in spite of not getting a shot at a tarpon due to wind and tide timing, we had an awesome time. 4 big barracuda and the fight of a lifetime on a 6 ft shark on the fly rod. 20 minutes of flyrod experience to last a lifetime! I didn't know a fly reel could even hold that much backing! We would definitely recommend a day with Caiman on the water. Many thanks to him for a great experience.
Caiman is a great man to spend the day with. Very professional and knowledgeable of the area. If I was more skilled we would have landed more fish, he put me on them but I casted like a nube. Caiman was very patient with me learning this new fishery. I would definitely book with him again. The gear and boat were top notch.

Caimen is a great captain. booked a full day on the water and caught all out target species and did great with my 8 year old son who is learning how to fish.
All three hooked Tarpons broke off.
Growing up in a fish-addicted family, I've been in and around the fishing culture in New Smyrna Beach, FL. I started fishing with my grandfather, catching Trout, Redfish, and Tarpon here in the Mosquito Lagoon every summer, and every day I wasn't in school or shredding the surf. In the past 6 years, I've had the bug for finding fish of all kinds in super skinny water. Watching any game fish do their natural habits in their domain is one sight I'll never get tired of. For me, it's about the eat and the expansive range of emotions one endures when all this beautiful action occurs.
