Your journey will start on an 18’ Blazer jet boat that can easily accommodate up to 3 guests. The boat is powered by a single 60 HP Mercury engine and has got a modern GPS system that will keep you on the right track throughout your trip.
You and the captain can travel between the major West Michigan rivers, including the Muskegon, Pere Marquette, Grand, Big Manistee, and Kalamazoo rivers. You’ll focus on chasing Salmon, Steelhead, and Smallmouth Bass, but the captain has also got the gear to target Walleye, Crappie, Northern Pike, and Brown Trout. Using light tackle, you’ll use many different styles to catch fish, including spinning, jigging, fly, drift, and ice fishing. You can keep your catch as well as bring kids on your trip.
The captain will supply you with all the fishing gear, live bait, lures, as well as water and Coca-Cola. You’ll only need to bring your fishing licenses and some food.

Zack was a great fishing guide. We visited from Ohio and wanted to book a charter for the day and had a great time. Zack was great at communicating leading up to the charter and on the water he was helpful, and willing to share his expertise with us. I ended up catching a beautiful steelhead and overall had a great day and want to come back for another charter in the future.
Zach was great. Super communicative, on time, and had everything set up and even helped me set up my fly rod. He gave my girlfriend and me a bunch of guidance on techniques, flies and locations. Very knowledgeable but also very patient with people new to fishing. Boat had plenty of room for two to fly fish at the same time. Highly recommend
This fishing trip was very fun, Zach was very patient with me in the beginning because this was my first time fishing with this kind of setup and I wasn't making ideal casts, but eventually I got the hang of it. I liked fishing with Zach because he is knowledgeable and explains to you what you need to do clearly, was fun to talk to, and he also tries his best to make you feel comfortable. I caught enough steelheads to make my arm sore for 2 days thanks to him so I highly recommend anyone looking for a good fishing trip to book Reel Down Outfitters! Thanks Zach!
On the fish. Easy to get along with and knowledgeable
Captain Zach is exactly the kind of captain that you want to have, regardless of your level of experience. We've chartered over 20x and fish our own local lakes. This might have been the most fun we've had with a captain. Great attitude and great advice. And put us on fish! 10/10 and will book again when we're back up north!

You can cancel or modify your booking up to 7 days before the trip date, free of charge. If you cancel or modify your booking later, or fail to show up, you'll forfeit 100% of what you've paid.
