Nowhere else does the gulfstream come closer than the Boynton Beach/Delray Beach area, which makes for an extraordinary fishery. We are known for our world-class sailfishing which is why many refer to this area of water as "Sailfish Alley" Fishing a half a mile off the beach, we specialize in kite fishing with live baits to catch Sailfish, Blackfin Tuna, Wahoo, and Mahi. In about a 30 minute run east you are fishing some of the best Swordfish grounds in all of South Florida. We catch a variety of pelagics year-round with the peak fishing being in the Springtime. Every year we guide anglers from all over that have never seen a sailfish before and through our experience and next-level equipment we are able to have them release over a dozen sailfish in one outing, many times within a few hours. Whether it is an unforgettable day of sailfishing, your personal best wahoo, filling the box full of jumbo blackfin tunas and mahis in the Spring, or a swordfish of a lifetime, assisting you in reaching that goal is our sole focus and reason we do what we do. Half Day Charter with Capt. Henry

So I never leave reviews, in fact this is my first, but thought this experience deserved one. My Nephew (20 Years old) and I (late 40’s) wanted to go fishing over Thanksgiving weekend. I googled local charters and came across Bahama Mama which is close to where we were located. Because we hatched this idea on Wednesday night, I called on Thanksgiving day expecting to leave a message and Captain Henry actually answered. From the start you could tell how passionate about fishing he is but more importantly how focused he was about ensuring we had a good experience. He asked all the right questions from the start. I have been fortunate to fish with some pretty incredible captains in the Northeast, Cabo, Northern Ontario as well as in the Haida Gwaii. Unfortunately, I have not had the same experience in south Florida until now. Don’t let age fool you because after 10 minutes on the boat and chatting it was clear his angling credentials stand with the best of them. However, what’s most important is we caught huge fish! For those who have fished with a good captain that’s the key, Capt henry delivered. So now onto the things that I would care about other than that: • Capt Henry is just simply a really nice guy. His demeanor on the boat was cool, collected and most importantly fun. • The boat is great, actually immaculate, and well taken care of. • The Gear was top notch, we flew kites off the back and trolled off the front. • I personally like center consoles for fishing but some are too small for big water, this boat is not.

Captain Henry absolutely crushed it on our half day charter trip! From the moment he picked us up at the dock, he did everything he could to make our trip awesome. We made the run out to prime fishing grounds and within minutes had lines in the water catching fish! Henry worked tirelessly keeping lines baited and in perfect position for the catch, and his efforts paid off with some serious action for our group of four. We caught a sailfish each (our target species), and hooked up on several others! Couldn't have been a better trip and was an outstanding experience all around. I have been on many charters of various types, and if you are looking to catch some big fish in great company, look no further than Captain Henry and the Bahama Mama! My wife surprised me on a recent trip to southern Florida with an opportunity to charter a boat. My family (wife, 8-year-old son, and my 74-year-old father) had an amazing time. Henry provided the perfect experience for us. His skillfulness, polite and happy demeaner, and professionalism all combined to make for an ideal morning of fishing with the family. My wife just enjoyed the waves and sun, my father enjoyed the unique time with his family, and most importantly, my son and I enjoyed reeling in fish. I caught my first Sailfish at 45, my son at 8, he loved every minute on the boat, and Captain Henry made it fun and enjoyable the entire time. I could not recommend this trip more to anyone. I arranged for my wife, son and daughter-in-law to do a half day charter on the Bahama Mama. The ladies were reluctant at first but decided that the thrill of "tight lines" was worth it. The best indication of a great fishing guide is seeing how much they love to fish. As we approached the landing, we spied Henry with a rod and reel and live bait, trying to coax a big Snook out from under the dock! A great sign! Soon we were heading out to a spot just off of Boynton Beach, a short trip. Henry got us rigged up and we waited. It wasn't too long before my wife, who volunteered to take the first fish, was up. We had hooked a nice Sailfish and she fought it for about 15 minutes, She landed it and the smile on her face was priceless. Soon we all had a fish to wrestle to the boat, We had our first "double" and then another! To say that Henry works hard is an understatement! He was running to and fro, helping coach us on how to reel in the Big Sailfish we had on the line. Then back to wheel to move the boat to enable us to bring these fish in. Always with great enthusiasm and a big smile. None if us had been deep sea fishing before, Henry made it easy for all. And he knew where to find the fish! We caught 7 Sailfish in under 4 hours of fishing! Unbelievable Best of all, everyone, especially the ladies, had the experience of a lifetime. My wife said she was so glad that she had come with, and was still talking about the experience days later. If you are looking for a great guide, Henry is your man. Fun, engaging, helpful, enthusiastic, hard working. I look forward to chartering with Henry again next year.

Great Day on the Water with Captain Henry
3/4 Day Trip (AM) on January 13, 2023
We did it all aboard Bahama Mama out of Boynton Beach inlet just ahead of a winter storm front. We started with kite fishing live baits landing a nice King Mackerel and then switched to anchor and chum to land 25 yellowtails. Conditions were tough but Captain Henry still customized our trip for what we wanted to do and his tournament rigged 32’ Contender could not have been more comfortable. All that and two gallon zip loc bags full of cleaned fresh catch fillets made for awesome table fair the same night, yummy blackened fish tacos! Recommend Captain Henry for anyone that wants a great day on the water with first class treatment.

I am a 3rd generation Boynton Beach native and have been blessed to call this place home for the last 35 years. I grew up fishing the epicenter for world-class fishing. My family came down here in the 1950’s, much of the area being undeveloped farms by the ocean. One of which today is called Briny Breezes, it is where the iconic Boynton water tower lies or otherwise known as the “Martini Glass” marking the target-rich reefs off our coast. It was back then that my grandfather cultivated the boat name “Bahama Mama” Fishing was passed down from him and my dad. Some of my fondest memories are of me and my dad mahi fishing every weekend at the age of 4, ever since then I was hooked! As I grew older, so did my passion for fishing. I have been fortunate enough to have been surrounded and mentored by people who many consider to have written the book on competitive sail-fishing in South Florida. Not only did I have years of knowledge passed down to me, but in addition I took what I learned, ran with it, and put my own style on it so to speak. Soon after graduating college I was on a fast track to becoming a South Florida Firefighter/Paramedic and am proud to say I have been one for going on a decade now. I’ve spent the last 15 years commercial sword fishing off South Florida and in 2018 I began to share my passion with clients charter fishing. Over the years I have experienced the best this sport has to offer, and have been fortunate to achieve more than I ever thought possible. From fishing the Florida straits, to marlin fishing throughout the Caribbean, my career has taken me to some pretty spectacular places and have collected numerous extraordinary memories along the way. However there’s nothing quite like fishing right here at home in my backyard. I feel blessed to be able to share this awesome place with my clients.
