We run our guide trips year round on Lake Wylie, which is on the border between North Carolina and South Carolina.
The lake has an abundant population of blue catfish, some of which that can surpass 60 pounds! Crappie and white perch are two other species of fish that are abundant and fun to target.
We primarily fish out of a 21 foot Lund deep-V boat that can carry up to four guests comfortably and safely. It is a smooth riding and dry boat even on the windiest of days on Lake Wylie. For some of the shallow water trips in the spring, we fish out of a 19 foot Carolina Skiff.
Catfish are my primary target species, but crappie and white perch are also target species for our anglers.

Dieter Melhorn is a hard working captain who knows his business. We all had a great time and caught a bunch of fish. Will definitely book with him again.
17-pounder , two 16-pounders , one 10-pounder & several 7-9 pounders !! as good as ut gets !!! great Captain ..wonderful , entertaining abd obviously a CATFISHOLOGIST ...had a blast !!
The boys caught 2 catfish and a few crappy. They were all smiles when I picked them up at the boat dock! Dieter was excellent and gave them a fishing trip they will remember for a long time! This was a birthday gift for my 15 year old and 17 year old boys. They were able to learn more about fishing and tips for catfishing!
Awesome trip! I took my 12-year-old son out on Lake Wylie for his birthday and we both had a great time! Captain Dieter was a ton of fun to hang out with. He knows his stuff, answered all of our “rookie” questions, and is an excellent conversationalist to boot!! A++!!! I highly recommend. We’ll definitely be back!

The guide was excellent, the fishing was fabulous. We put 16 catfish in the boat. Four were over ten pounds and two were right at 20 pounds. We highly recommend this guide!!!! You will have a great day on the water with him. We did and will be back.

You can cancel or modify your booking up to 3 days before the trip date, free of charge. If you cancel or modify your booking later, or fail to show up, you'll forfeit 100% of what you've paid.

Transfer to/from departure site may be available and included in price depending on your location and distance from the dock.
How you can pay
When the captain confirms your trip, FishingBooker charges your credit card a 10% deposit to guarantee your reservation.
The remaining balance is to be paid directly to the charter operator on or prior to your trip date in one of the following payment methods:
