Located in the marina of Calheta in Madeira, Boca Raton Fishing Charters offers you the chance to catch a fish of a lifetime! Madeira is rated as one of the top three destinations for Blue Marlin in the world, having won the Blue Marlin World Cup three times in the last 6 years.

The fishing grounds start right outside the marina, so the run-out time is zero, giving you more time to fish. With deep water located within 1 mile of shore, you can enjoy the stunning scenery of the island while fishing at the same time. Since you’ll fish on the south coast of the island, the sea is normally calm, making for a comfortable day out.

Boca Raton is a true sportfishing boat built by Blackwatch boats. She’s a 31’ Flybridge Express and features all the comfort you could wish for. There’s indoor and outdoor seating space so you can watch the action in comfort, or relax inside in the cabin. The boat has a spacious flybridge and is equipped with Rupp outriggers, a Pompanette fighting chair, custom 130lb rods, and Shimano 80lb reels.

Boca Raton Fishing Charters continues to honor the legacy of Capt. Adrian Bowmer, who fished the Madeira waters for over 11 years and whose passion for the sport left a lasting impact on the island’s fishing community. Although Capt. Adrian has sadly passed away, First Mate/Relief Captain Goncalo Barbosa, who has fished these waters all his life, carries forward the same dedication and expertise that Capt. Adrian instilled in the crew.

The crew offers a fully inclusive charter, with drinks, lunch, and all equipment on a full-day charter. On a half-day charter, this is also included, except for lunch.

Boca Raton operates on a Catch and Release basis for all Billfish species. Tuna, Wahoo, and other fish can be prepared for you to take home for dinner.

Great short trip

4 Hour Trip – Big Game on July 10, 2024 • 4 adults

We didnt have time to go for long trip, so we went for 4hours trip. I fish a lot so didnt expect any magic. It is hard to catch something big in few hours. I had family with me, so I asked captain for mix of trolling and bottom fishing. Even it was a short trip. And the crew had no problem with anything and were very helpful and we had a lot od fun. We catched many nice fish including rare and protected Barred hogfish on bottom fishing. So my boys and wife were happy and had a lot of fun. I go fishing everytime and everywhere on our holydays. So I can really compare all details of such trip and guides. That is why I would like to highlight here the really professional work and approach of Gonzalo and David. Even though we only had one shot at trolling, we really enjoyed the trip to the max thanks to their professional and friendly approach. We are going to Madeira again next year and will definitely go fishing with them again 👍😎💪

Full day marlin fishing trip

8 Hour Trip – Big Game on July 10, 2023 • 2 adults

The crew on Boca Raton were amazing! We did a solid full day of fishing across almost the entire south side of the island. Unfortunately no luck on landing a once in a lifetime marlin, but we did catch a small skip jack and a spear fish. The views of the island and knowledge the captain and first made have of the islands were great. Very friendly and made us feel right at home. The boat and equipment was very well kept and clean. You can tell the captain takes pride in his work. Highly recommend!

Full Day Trip with Captain Adrian

8 Hour Trip – Wahoo Madness on October 8, 2022 • 1 adult

The fishing trip was absolutely wonderful. The crew put in tremendous effort and was very friendly. The weather was excellent and we were able to spot several good fish at the surface, but despite the crew's great dedication, no fish took the bait - but that's fishing for you. I can recommend this trip to any angler. Captain Adrian also speaks German very well. I will definitely be back!

Co captains Adriane and Gonzalo provided the ultimate experience. They were meticulous from boat to the spreads and even lunch. I planned on writing this review compared to my experience in Funchal two days earlier with or without a hook up as local fishing had been spotty at best. No need 700 plus blue marlin. No matter where in Madeira you are I highly recommend Calheta and Boca Raton.

Half day fishing trip with Adrian and Gonzales!

4 Hour Trip – Bottom Fishing on July 27, 2022 • 4 adults

We went for a small fish hunt and it was awesome! We cought a lot of small fishes, various types. If you want guys can arrange the fish preparation in a restaurant nearby. We ate some in there and it was so delicious! The rest of fishes we got in the bag, clean and prepared for our own cooking. Great advanture not even for adults but for whole family. 100% recommend to anyone! :)
