Bonehead Charters would like to welcome you to Hatteras Island. Join Captain James Holmes aboard 'Bonehead,' a comfortable and spacious boat that offers you a smooth ride and is ready to take you fishing or just cruising the bountiful waters of the Atlantic Ocean and Pamlico Sound.
The captain and his first mate will ensure you have everything you need to have a great time and put you on some serious fun. Give them a shout in Hatteras, North Carolina, they are ready to take you out!
Bonehead is a 38' Cecil Robbins Chesapeake deadrise saltwater fishing boat that can accommodate up to 6 anglers. It runs on a 420 HP Cummins engine that can reach a maximum cruising speed of 18 knots and uses navigation technology to allow for safe and quick movement on the water. You can also use the onboard fighting chair and you'll have the help of a first mate who'll gladly work to make your experience even better.
The species you can target are, Mackerel, Bluefish, Flounder, Redfish, as well as Cobia. There's a wide choice of ways you can reel them in. You can, troll, jig, and drift fish using light and heavy tackle. Kids are welcome to join the trip and you're free to keep all your catch if you wish to.
Capt. James will take care of all the rods, reels, live bait, and lures, as well as fishing licenses, so the only things you should have before you depart are your favorite snacks and drinks. Also, keep in mind that the first mate works for tips.

Last Friday was the second time this summer ive been out with Jimmie and Mitch with Bonehead Charters. I took my two kids (10 yrs old) the first and we caught a load of Spanish Mackerel. Last week I took my kids along with my brother-in-law and his 8 year old daughter. We caught 23 keepers of Spanish Mackerel and Blue Fish. The fish started hitting almost immediatley and we had a great day of pulling them in. Here is whats special about Bonehead: Not only are Jimmie and Mitch good fellas and know how to find fish, they are SUPER awesome with kids. Mitch shows them what to do, how to do it, and why its done that way. He keeps the kids engaged and how to recognize when they fish are on. Before our half day was over the kids were spotting the lines and knew exactly when to grab a rod or pull a line, unhook them, and measure them. Ill never book with anybodys else in the OBX. Thanks guys.
Our trip with Captain Jimmy and first mate Mitch was truly one of the best experiences our family has had in OBX. We had 3 adults and 3 kids (ages 7, 10, and 15) on our trip. The focus was the kids having a good time - and they had a blast! Jimmy and Mitch wasted no time getting us on the water, lines in, and fish on! I'm still in awe of the patience and gentleness that the crew had for us. Answering every inquiry with very informative answers in a way anyone could understand. I wanted to book a second trip with them while we were here this week, but there aren't any slots available. Don't miss out on a once in a lifetime experience and book a trip with Bonehead! Amazing experience for my teens & tween! Captain Jimmy got us on the fish just minutes into the charter! First mate, Mitch, was kind, professional and went above and beyond sharing all his fishing knowledge with my teenage son. You can tell these fidherman not only know what theyre doing but love it too! Highly recommend this charter!
We’ve gone on other charters in the Hatteras area before we found Bonehead, but we will only book with them. Incredibly knowledgeable, easy going, friendly, and they know how to put you on some fish! Great time as always…thanks guys!! See you again next year!
We had an awesome time on this charter! The captain worked hard to keep us on the fish, and it paid off. We caught our limit of bluefish and even added some mackerel to the cooler. The mate was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the trip enjoyable from start to finish. If you’re looking for a fun day on the water with plenty of action, I highly recommend this charter. We’ll definitely be back!
