You’ll fish from a 24’ Haynie bay boat that can sit up to 4 anglers and runs on a 225 HP Mercury engine. It uses modern GPS technology as well as a radar for effective navigation and is equipped with a livewell to supply you with livebait.
The species you can target include Spotted Seatrout, Flounder, and Redfish. You and Captain John will try to catch them using light tackle and you’re free to keep all the fish you catch and take it home. If you wish to bring kids on your trip, feel free to do so. They always make the atmosphere on board more fun and they may easily love the marine world.
All the rods, reels, terminal tackle, live bait, and lures will be ready for you when you arrive, and the captain will also clean and fillet your catch if you want him to. What you should bring on your trip are only your fishing licenses and the food and drinks of your choice.

Full Day Trip on June 9, 2025
We had an exceptional trip. The boat was nice and the equipment was top notch. We were staying in a house on the bay which was on the way to fishing ground so Captain John offered to pick us up at our pier. We caught our limit of trout and then switched to reds. Caught a few reds with a nice keeper. He brought us back to our pier at the end of the trip and cleaned and packaged the fish. It was a great trip and we will book again with Captain John when we return to Rockport!

Captain John will make you a better fisherman. Weather was perfect, trip was great! Put us on the Trout quick and followed up with big keeper Redfish. He helped us with the technique and has amazing knowledge of the bay eco system. This guy just loves to fish and have a good time, we did both! Thanks Captain John!

I couldn’t ask for a better person to take my boys fishing today. Captain John was the perfect choice to take them out and teach them how to locate and land fish from start to finish. I will make this an annual trip with my sons thanks to this wonderful experience. Couldn’t ask for a better person to spend the day with. Thanks Captain.

Once the storm moved out and we were able to go out, it turned out to be a great day. Limited out on trout fairly quickly and started fishing reds. Captain John is great at what he does! Definitely use him again!
