I am an 84-year-old grandfather who took his 21-year-old grandson on his first guided fishing trip. The registration process was easy, and communication before the trip date with Jerry, our guide, was also easy and very informative. Jerry and the boat were waiting for us when we arrived 10 minutes early. After a brief but thorough orientation, we were off and soon fishing. Jerry is a person who is easy to like while being very professional about being a guide. As we went to our first "honey hole," he shared stories of previous trips that also shared tips on how to successfully fish. We soon boated our first Strippers, along with several drum and catfish. The day did not turn out to be one of the best days for fishing. The lake became quite rough after the sun came up. But Jerry's large and well-equipped boat took the large waves in stride. Our final fish count was not one of Jerry's largest, but we left with a large bag of fillets. More important than the number of fish caught was the day that I got to spend with my grandson doing what he really enjoys. The day was a total success. The friendly relationship that we quickly developed with Jerry was a major reason we enjoyed this trip so much. Would I do it again? You bet! My grandson and I have already talked about another day on the lake this fall, and we agreed that we will enlist Jerry as our guide.
