Healy Outdoors – Salmon/ Steelhead
Healy Outdoors provides guided drift boat and wading trips on the Salmon River and Oswego River. Based out of Altmar, New York, you and Captain Michael Healy or Rob Healy will head out to your desired freshwater destination and have a great time targeting various species. The captains know the area well and know how to make your trip a successful one, so join them aboard and have a lovely day of fishing rivers or lakes!
Up to 3 anglers per a drift boat. If your party is more than 3 send us a message as 2 or more boats may be needed. The boats you’ll be fishing aboard are 16’ Hyde drift boats that run via man power (oars) or using a kicker motor.
The species you’ll be chasing include Steelhead (Rainbow Trout), Brown Trout, King (Chinook) and Coho Salmon. We use various methods to target these species such as; trolling, casting, float fishing, fly fishing, and plunking. You decide whether you want to keep the fish you catch or release it back to the water. Youths are always welcome and encouraged to join in aim to perpetuate the sport. Bring them as well and have a great family outing together.
Your guide will provide both regular and fly fishing gear, live bait, lures and any other fishing gear you will need except chest waders. You should bring your fishing licenses, a pair of chest waders, and something to eat and drink so you stay refreshed.

Amazing day on the river. Winter steelhead fishing can be tough due to weather and getting these elusive fish to take what you're giving them. You need to put your time in and know what your doing. Captain Michael was terrific. Great energy, patient, and worked really hard to put us on fish. This guy is a hard core angler that knows his stuff. He refined our fishing technics that made the difference hooking up and landing a couple beauties. Looking forward to next trip!

Super trip with Captn Mike
The last few days on the Salmon have reminded us why it’s called “fishing” and not “catching”… fish have been few and far between… Captain Mike worked tirelessly putting us in great spots and helping when gear issues arose … one fish that popped off next to the boat was all me and my partner were able to achieve despite his best efforts … nevertheless we had a fantastic trip with a great guide … we will definitely look him up for our next trip … and we would definitely recommend him …. Thanks Captn Mike for a memorable day 👍
