He shares them with his guests to provide them with top-class on-the-beach adventures regardless of their age and skill levels. Thanks to his patience and teaching skills, you'll have a great time learning how to land a terrific catch as well as to catch live bait, use the tackle, and get a good grasp of the local fishery.
The spots you'll be fishing from include beaches, piers, the bay, and jetties. The guide will show you the best ways to reel in fish and help you experience the beauty of a hands-on approach. Put together his knowledge, expert techniques, and the rich fishery and you get the best chance for catching species such as Snook, Pompano, Redfish, Spotted Seatrout, Black Drum, and many more Floridian saltwater big-name species!
Sight fishing here is very popular, and targeting Snook is the epitome of sight fishing. Most of the time you can see the fish, and if you have the right guide/skills you'll be able to catch it
Things to keep in mind are that smoking and alcohol aren't allowed on the beach. Also, you can keep your catch but the guide encourages releasing in order to preserve the fishery. For keeping Snook, you'll need a $10 permit.
Coach Steve provides you with top-notch Penn gear, live bait, lures, and even filleting and bagging your catch. His gear is fully tailored for the hard-fighting Snook. That said, just remember to bring your fishing licenses for the day. The usual 15-20% gratuity for your guide's hard work would be highly appreciated!

My boys and I had a great time with Captain Steve. Tropical Storm Bertha changed our plans twice, Capt Steve still put us on some fish. We caught snook, red snapper and a grouper along with a few other species. If I come back to AMI, we’ll definitely hook up again with Capt. Steve.
Hey Doug! Thanks so much for the great 5-Star review! It was a lot of fun fishing with you all despite the rough surf conditions instagated by Tropical Storm Bertha, so Plan B was executed. I always hope for ideal conditions for my client’s trips, but sometimes Mother Nature has other ideas. During this unsettled weather pattern, most captains were cancelling their trips, due to safety concerns/ poor fishing on a vessel, whereas, land-based charters (NO BOAT) can often circumnavigate that and still find fishable waters that are protected from wind, heavy surf, and rain. Nothing worse having your captain cancel on you last minute on your anticipated fishing trip saying were not going 😂. Amazing pier fishing experience. Just show up and Captain Steve has everything ready for you. So knowledgeable and amazing with kids. We caught so many fish and saw dolphins and manatee from pier in Longboat Key.

We had a great time with Captain Steve. We didnt catch alot but we still had fun and learned lots of new stuff. We will definitely go fishing with Captain Steve again when we visit next.

He has a true thirst for adventure, and this led him to the rugged, unspoiled beaches of Baja, Mexico. Baja proved to be a true fisherman's paradise, with incredible angling opportunities and lifelong memories. Now, he wants to help guests feel the same sense of adventure and excitement that he experienced in Baja – through experiencing Floridian fishing like never before, from the shoreline! Steve moved to Longboat Key, Florida, in 1992, and has an incredible, diverse fishery right on his doorstep. He can't wait to introduce you to it, all without a boat in sight. He also knows a lot about the local wildlife and loves telling guests about the nature around them as they fish, providing an experience that's more than just fishing.
