Spend the day with Sport Fishing Mahimahi Ixtapa and let them show you what makes the fishing in Zihuatanejo so memorable! Having logged many hours on these tides, Captain Luis can tell you all about the local fishery.

Depending on the season, you might hook into Pacific Barracuda, Bonito, Cero Mackerel, Dolphin (Mahi Mahi), Jack Crevalle, Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Sailfish, Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, Roosterfish, and whatever else takes the bait.

For these species, you're likely to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle. Capt. Luis also offers fly fishing, but you may need to bring your own fly gear.

Looking to get the whole family outdoors? Kids are absolutely welcome! If you don't have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there's one on board. Snacks are also a good idea so that nobody gets cranky on an empty belly!

Your adventure begins aboard a 25' Skiff that can carry up to 6 passengers. It has outriggers, downriggers, a fighting chair, and all the essentials. There's a toilet on board for your convenience.

Rods, reels, and tackle are provided, as well as lures. Live bait is included, but it's good to ask about this so you know if you'll be catching it yourself.

You'll have the help of a First Mate to put you on fish. It's customary to tip the Mate 10–20% to show your appreciation.

There's no need to buy a fishing license, just show up ready for a good time! Some fish have special regulations, including when you can keep them. If you don't know what to expect, ask the captain.

Don't leave home without sunglasses, sunblock (non-spray), bottled water, and a hat. There will be some drinks on offer, but let the captain know if you wish to bring your own. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just be sure to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

A misery with bad results
offshore Fishing on August 2, 20232 adults

Originally I was requesting fishing for another species and the coordinator told me we would go for this species the captain told us when we arrived that it's the wrong season for that kind of fish. And he went out for other ones. All together we had 6 bites (3 from MahiMahis, 2 from Sailfishs and one from a small Shark). Even if all fishes were on for a while either the captain's hookset or first retrieve was not good. The captain worked alone on his boat and we were fishing with 5 rods. The baits were not prepared so the captain which I would guess was about 23 years old was preparing the baits while transitioning from the habour where he picked us up to the the point where he wanted to start to fish. Concerning my experience that's not the best set-up for just one fishermen. There was no obvious systematic in positioning the lures in the different distances. The captain was trying to entertain with music but didn't speak any English at all. After having seen all the misery during the day my fiancé decided for taking at least the little Shark with us. And I don't like these lazy especially the young charter captains which recommend the customers to leave the skin on, like this captain did for the Shark because of the extra work. My verdict is that I cannot recommend this fishing charter.

Hello good morning appreciable Mr. Noda very sorry not to have caught the species that you would like but it is the exciting thing about fishing however I think the captain made an effort to provide the best possible service but I think I do not achieve it in advance an apology on behalf of Mahi-Mahi
