While I’ve been a fisherman for many years this was my first time offshore. We hooked our first marlin about 15 mins after our lines were in the water. As we got it to the boat we hooked another one. We kept the first one and released the second. We had one other bite the rest of the trip. While it would have been great to catch more I know there are days where they just stop biting. Captain was Alan Chavalas on the “Tarpon” boat. My daughter and I we had the boat and captain for ourselves. Within the first hour on the water, we caught 7 tunas. It was obvious that it’s beyond reason to keep so much fish so we asked Alan to switch to different species. We caught two Mexican needlefish, and mine was huge. Alan was a great captain- kind and helpful. Finally got a catch on the way back and he patiently helped us reel in a HUGE marlin! We saw many dolphins and yellowfin tuna during the boat ride too. A trip we will never forget.
