Captain Ryan McHugh is located in Charleston and offers to show you a memorable time in these waters. Come spend a fun-filled day with Capt. Ryan, a USCG-certified boat captain and a licensed charter boat operator. The captain has lived in Charleston for 25 years and has fished in these waters for over 30 years.
Capt. Ryan will do his best to make sure you have a fun day full of fishing. This involves 3 to 10-hour trips, mainly fishing for Redfish, Flounder, Cobia, Dolphin, Tarpon, and Amberjack, depending on the season and conditions of the day. On these trips, you can expect to use techniques such as light tackle, heavy tackle, bottom fishing, trolling, fly fishing, big game fishing, jigging, popping, and spinning.
Your fishing adventure starts on a brand-new 27’ Pathfinder center console that can safely take up to 6 anglers. The wide-open design of this boat allows for all anglers to be able to fish at the same time when bottom fishing. The boat also has the reach to go offshore as far as 80 miles. It’s equipped with a radar, dual GPS Garmin units, outriggers, and a wireless trolling motor that allows you to lock in on bottom targets with GPS anchor locking capability. For Capt. Ryan, safety is first when fishing offshore. He has 2 EPIRBs, a life raft, USCG-approved life vests, flares, and GPS communication that he wears at all times. The has even got a toilet.
Your trip will include all the necessary fishing tackle, bait, ice, and licenses for the day. The crew will clean and fillet your catch for you to take home at the end of the trip.
Book your trip now and hit the water with Captain Ryan McHugh.

5 Hour Trip – Nearshore on May 28, 2025
Three of us thoroughly enjoyed a 6 hour near shore fishing excursion because Captain RJ put is on so many fish! We were in the area vacationing with family, and we ended up taking back more than enough filets for 13 of us to enjoy a huge fish fry. He showed us multiple techniques, and we caught several different species of fish, including some huge ones. During the few times the fishing slowed, Captain RJ was quick to move locations and put us right back on top of them. We've been on several smaller boats over the years, but the extra room on this new 27' Pathfinder made a huge difference. We will definitely be returning to fish with Captain RJ!!

5 Hour Trip – Inshore (MAX 2) on May 6, 2025
Ryan was a great guide with knowledge of the waters. My wife and I did the 1/2 day inshore trip on his hells bay skiff, and it was exactly what I was looking for in a fishing experience on our honeymoon. Oh and it was awesome catching a 33” redfish on light tackle too! Will be recommending and relaying his contact information to my friends and family back in Nashville.

We went out 30-35miles hooked a bunch cobia. Caught triggerfish, and a few other types. Probably 10 overall! If there keepers he cleans them for you at the end. Great time, will for sure be booking with Ryan again.

Capt. Ryan was born and raised in Greenwood, SC. He spent his summers in Charleston going to camp at The Citadel starting at age 9. He moved to Charleston in 1998 when he attended The Citadel in College, and he has remained here ever since. The captain has spent his entire childhood fishing salt water and ponds and streams. He loves it all – fly fishing, spin rods, big conventional reels, bait casters, and more. He has crossed every fish off his list in South Carolina and now he enjoys helping people cross the same species off their lists!
