Explore Barclay Sound and Alberni Inlet with BobKatz Charters! Captain Bob has been fishing in these waters for decades and knows them like the back of his palm. You'll be fishing on a 28' Grady White that accommodates up to 5 guests. This angler boat is powered by twin 200 HP Mercury engines and reaches the speed of 26 knots. The boat is equipped with navigational electronics, so you can count on always being where the fish are and getting there with ease. There is also a private toilet, a live bait tank, a cooler, and downriggers.
The trips are available during summer months and you can go after Chinook, Coho, and Sockeye Salmon, which you'll mainly target by trolling. It's a fun waiting game, as you'll enjoy a slow ride until something bites.
You can release the catch or keep it if you're planning to have a delicious meal afterward. The captain will clean and fillet your fish free of charge. All fishing equipment is included in the price but you need to cover your fishing licenses, food, and drinks.

Started with saftey gear(first aid bag, throw bag, fire extinguisher, life ring, keys, etc.). Many years of fishing experience shows. Got our limit and most were large Sockeye salmon. 9 yr old reeled his first salmon, and Bob helped patiently. Told us exactly what had to be done when he was tied up getting lines back In the water. He went above and beyond to help his clients. All the sask friends booked this boat caz he's the best!
We had a fantastic day with Captain Bob. Seasoned Captain that knows the Alberni Inlet inside out . Great knowledge and equipment to put us on the fish . Its very early in the Sockeye season ( June 15 2026 ) and so some days better than others . Our day happened to be insanely good . Hit the boat limit by the end of the day ( 4 sockeye salmon per fisher ) Myself and my three brothers got our four fish each, and also lost a few more as barbless hooks are used . Average fish , 5-6 lbs , with a few of them being 7-9 lbs . It was great fun . Bob cleaned the fish for us . Very professional , prompt , ( 6 am start sharp) and great person ! i would do this trip in a second again next time i make the trek from Newfoundland . Very reasonable price . I highly recommend Captain Bob , from Bob Katz charters .
We had a wonderful charter fishing with Bob, we got plenty of fish, had a lot of laughs, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I would highly recommend Bob's guiding service to anyone looking to fish with an experienced angler with a ton of local knowledge. I look forward to seeing Bob again.

Had the most wonderful fishing trip ever, captain Bob knew exactly where the fish are and what depth, boat is well equipped and all fishing gear set and ready for you, captain Bob is a great guy , so if you want to catch fish book him and get a ice box ready to take it home full !!

What a great morning, met at the Harbour. Off we went nice and early had bites right away! Caught 4 huge chinook salmon. Very knowledgeable and had great chats. Boat was awesome and fulfilled our needs. We had 2 adults and one 12 year old . Had all the gear to pull in the big salmon. Saw sea lions, eagles and a tug boat bringing in logs to shore. Would highly recommend Bob and BobKatz charter in Port Alberni.
